Canada will grant residency to more than 90,000 people

The Canadian government has announced that it will grant permanent residence to more than 90,000 foreign students and workers who worked on the front lines during the Covid-19 outbreak and helped treat the infected.

According to RT website, Canadian Immigration Minister Marco Mendesino announced that the government will open the way for foreigners in key jobs, such as personal support and health services, to permanently reside in the country, and that the measure helps Canada achieve its goal of receiving more than 400,000 immigrants this year, to offset the low rate of migration over the past year after the border closures, noting that “the Corona epidemic has highlighted the remarkable contributions of new arrivals.”

“This new policy will help those, who have temporary positions, plan their future in Canada, play a key role in the economic recovery, and help us rebuild better,” he said, addressing those eligible for permanent residency by saying, “Your situation may be temporary, but your contributions are permanent and we want you to stay.” We know that by attracting the best and the smartest and keeping them with us, we will add more jobs, growth and diversity to our economy.”

Canada’s Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship said in a press release that the new policy will allow up to 90,000 foreign workers and graduates already in Canada to transfer their status from temporary to permanent residence, and workers and graduates eligible for permanent residence will be able to apply between May 6, 2021 and November 5, 2021.

Those eligible for permanent residence must have at least one year of Canadian practical experience in one of 40 different healthcare jobs, or 95 other pre-approved basic jobs, and graduates must have completed a qualified Canadian post-secondary program over the past four years, and all applicants must master English or French.

ووفقا لموقع روسيا اليوم فقد أعلن وزير الهجرة الكندي، ماركو مينديسينو، أن الحكومة ستفتح المجال لحصول الأجانب العاملين لديها في وظائف أساسية، مثل الدعم الشخصي والخدمات الصحية، الإقامة الدائمة في البلاد، وإن هذا الإجراء يساعد كندا على تحقيق هدفها المتمثل في استقبال أكثر من 400 ألف مهاجر هذا العام، لتعويض انخفاض معدل الهجرة خلال العام الماضي بعد إغلاق الحدود، مشيرا إلى أن “وباء كورونا سلط الضوء على المساهمات الرائعة للوافدين الجدد”.

وأضاف الوزير الكندي: “هذه السياسة الجديدة سوف تساعد هؤلاء، الذين لديهم وضعيات مؤقتة، على التخطيط لمستقبلهم في كندا، ولعب دور رئيسي في الانتعاش الاقتصادي، ومساعدتنا على إعادة البناء بشكل أفضل”، متوجهاإلى مستحقي الإقامات الدائمة بالقول: “قد يكون وضعكم مؤقتا، لكن مساهماتكم دائمة ونريدكم أن تبقوا.. نعلم أنه من خلال جذب الأفضل والأذكى وابقائهم لدينا، سنضيف المزيد من الوظائف والنمو والتنوع إلى اقتصادنا”.

من جهتها قالت وزارة الهجرة واللاجئين والمواطنة الكندية في بيان صحفي إن السياسة الجديدة ستسمح لما يصل إلى 90 ألف عامل وخريج أجنبي موجودين بالفعل في كندا بتحويل وضعهم من إقامة مؤقتة إلى إقامة دائمة، وسيتمكن العمال والخريجون المؤهلون للحصول على الإقامة الدائمة، أن يقدموا طلبا في الفترة ما بين 6 مايو 2021 و5 نوفمبر 2021.

كما على المؤهلين للحصول على الإقامة الدائمة أن يتمتعوا بسنة واحدة على الأقل من الخبرة العملية الكندية في واحدة من 40 وظيفة رعاية صحية مختلفة، أو 95 وظيفة أساسية أخرى معتمدة مسبقا، كما يجب أن يكون الخريجون قد أكملوا برنامج ما بعد الثانوي الكندي المؤهل خلال السنوات الأربع الماضية، كما يجب أن يتقن جميع المتقدمين اللغة الإنجليزية أو الفرنسية.
