Turkish President Honours Qatar for its Unwavering Support During 2023 Earthquake

Doha, 7 February 2025 – In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, H.E. President of the Republic of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, honoured Qatar and other nations that stood by Turkiye in the wake of the catastrophic earthquake that struck on 6 February 2023.
During a ceremony held in Adiyaman Province—one of the hardest-hit areas—Dr. Naif bin Jassim Al Abduljabbar, Acting Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Republic of Turkiye, received a commemorative shield from the Turkish President. This recognition symbolises the deep bond between the two nations and Qatar’s steadfast commitment to humanitarian aid.
The event saw the presence of high-ranking Turkish officials, including the Ministers of Interior, Environment, Urbanisation, and Climate Change. In his address, President Erdogan praised Qatar for its immediate and unwavering response, describing its support as a beacon of hope during Turkiye’s darkest hours.
From the early hours of the disaster, Qatar mobilised its resources, dispatching emergency relief teams, medical assistance, and humanitarian aid to affected areas. This honour serves as a testament to the enduring partnership between Qatar and Turkiye—one built on solidarity, brotherhood, and a shared commitment to standing together in times of crisis.

الدوحة، 7 فبراير 2025 – في لفتة امتنان عميقة، كرّم فخامة الرئيس رجب طيب أردوغان، رئيس جمهورية تركيا، دولة قطر وعدداً من الدول التي وقفت إلى جانب تركيا في أعقاب الزلزال المدمر الذي ضرب البلاد في 6 فبراير 2023.
وخلال حفل تكريمي أقيم في ولاية أديامان، إحدى المناطق الأكثر تضرراً، تسلّم الدكتور نايف بن جاسم العبد الجبار، القائم بالأعمال بالإنابة في سفارة دولة قطر بجمهورية تركيا، درعاً تذكارياً من فخامة الرئيس التركي. هذه اللفتة تمثل رمزاً للروابط العميقة بين البلدين وتجسيداً لالتزام قطر الدائم بالمساعدات الإنسانية.
وشهد الحفل حضور كبار المسؤولين الأتراك، بمن فيهم وزراء الداخلية، والبيئة، والتخطيط العمراني، والتغير المناخي. وفي كلمته، أشاد الرئيس أردوغان بسرعة استجابة قطر ودعمها غير المشروط، واصفاً إياها بأنها شعلة أمل أضاءت الظلام خلال تلك المحنة العصيبة.
منذ الساعات الأولى للكارثة، سخّرت قطر إمكانياتها، حيث أرسلت فرق الإغاثة والطواقم الطبية والمساعدات الإنسانية إلى المناطق المنكوبة. هذا التكريم يعكس الشراكة المتينة بين قطر وتركيا، القائمة على الأخوة والتضامن والوقوف جنباً إلى جنب في أوقات الأزمات.
