Bitcoin exceeds $60,000 mark for the first time in its history

Doha: Bitcoin’s currency on Saturday for the first time exceeded the $60,000 mark, which experts say was prompted by the U.S. economic stimulus plan.

The cryptocurrency rose to $60,197 at 12:34 GMT and continues to swing at this symbolic threshold on Saturday afternoon, according to the currency market cap.

Bitcoin continues to achieve record increases, having tripled in value in recent months, from just $20,000 in mid-December.

Market.com analyst Neil Wilson said bitcoin has “risen in recent days because investors are waiting for checks” to arrive for Americans as part of the economic stimulus plan.

As of the end of this week, Americans are expected to receive checks and transfers worth $1,400 per person under the $1,900 billion plan signed by President Joe Biden on Thursday.

“The US stimulus checks will allow small investors to put part of their money into Bitcoin,” said Naeem Islam, ava trade analyst.

He added that he expects the currency to continue to increase “as bitcoin is now much easier to buy”.

But the rapid growth of the cryptocurrency is worrying some market watchers who do not rule out a sharp fall, or even a bubble burst.

While many fear the volatility of the Bitcoin market, others estimate that the situation is different from 2017 when prices rose before they collapsed in early 2018.

In contrast to investment funds and some companies such as Tesla, the American car maker, which invested one and a half billion dollars in the encrypted digital currency, many individuals bought fractions of Bitcoin thanks to the many selling platforms that have flourished in recent years.

الدوحة: تجاوزت قيمة عملة «بتكوين» السبت لأول مرة عتبة 60 ألف دولار، حيث يقول خبراء إن ذلك جاء بدفع من خطة التحفيز الاقتصادي الأمريكية.

ووفق موقع “كوين ماركت كاب” المختص، ارتفعت قيمة العملة الرقميّة المشفّرة إلى 60197 دولار عند الساعة 12,34 ت غ، وهي تواصل التأرجح عند هذه العتبة الرمزية بعد ظهر السبت.

وتواصل عملة «بتكوين» تحقيق زيادات قياسية، وقد تضاعفت قيمتها ثلاث مرات في الأشهر الأخيرة، إذ كان سعرها 20 ألف دولار فقط منتصف ديسمبر.

قال المحلّل في موقع “ماركتس دوت كوم” نيل ويلسون إن البتكوين في الأيام الماضية “ارتفعت لأن المستثمرين ينتظرون وصول الشيكات” للأمريكيين في إطار خطة التحفيز الاقتصادي.

ومن المنتظر أن يحصل الأمريكيون اعتبارا من نهاية هذا الأسبوع على شيكات وتحويلات بقيمة 1400 دولار للفرد بموجب الخطة التي تبلغ قيمتها 1900 مليار دولار والتي وقعها الرئيس جو بايدن الخميس.

بدوره قال المحلّل في “افا ترايد” نعيم إسلام إن “شيكات التحفيز الأمريكية ستسمح لصغار المستثمرين بوضع جزء من أموالهم في البتكوين“.

وأضاف أنه ينتظر استمرار زيادة قيمة العملة “بالنظر إلى أن شراء البتكوين أصبح أسهل بكثير الآن“.

لكن النمو المتسارع للعملة المشفّرة يثير قلق بعض مراقبي السوق الذين لا يستبعدون حدوث هبوط حاد، أو حتى انفجار الفقاعة.

وفي حين يخشى كثيرون تقلب سوق البتكوين، يقدّر آخرون أن الوضع مختلف عن عام 2017 عندما ارتفعت الأسعار قبل أن تنهار بداية عام 2018.

وبخلاف صناديق الاستثمار وبعض الشركات على غرار “تيسلا” الأمريكية لتصنيع السيارات التي استثمرت مليارا ونصف مليار دولار في العملة الرقمية المشفّرة، اشترى كثير من الأفراد كسورا من البتكوين بفضل منصات بيع عديدة ازدهرت في الأعوام الأخيرة.
