Chinese scientists put two scenarios for the 2021 Covid-19 outbreak

Beijing: A team of Chinese scientists has developed two models of the 2021 coronavirus pandemic in the world, the South China Morning Post reported, and a group of CDC experts, the Chinese military and a number of research institutes concluded that in the worst case scenario, the total number of coronavirus patients worldwide will rise from the current 92 million to 170 million within the next two months.

“By early March, the number of deaths from Covid-19 could rise to five million, and the Chinese experts’ report indicated that achieving the most optimistic scenario requires that everyone adhere to the rules of social spacing and masks, and that governments of countries take effective measures, with the comprehensive vaccination program continuing without interruption,” said The Group’s President, Professor Xu Jiangu.

The hospital is one of six hospitals with a total of 6,500 rooms to be built in Nangong, south of Beijing, Hebei province, the official Xinhua news agency reported. Construction began on 10 January after a series of Covid-19 cases were reported in the city, and the rest of the rooms will be ready within one week. A similar 3,000-room centre is currently under construction in Shijiazhuang, the provincial capital.

There were 643 confirmed locally transmitted cases and two expatriate cases were being treated in hospitals in Hebei, mostly in Shijiazhuang and Nangong, a provincial city of Xingtai City.

Chinese state media reported yesterday that the recent outbreak of the epidemic on the Chinese mainland was caused by an imported case, not a local one.

CCTV quoted National Health Commission Minister Ma Xiaowei as saying at a government meeting that groups of corona outbreaks in China in its northern provinces such as Hubei, Liaoning and Heilongjiang, as well as Beijing since last December, have been the result of cases coming from abroad.

وأوضح رئيس المجموعة البروفيسور شو جيانغو، أن خُمس الإصابات في العالم سيكون من نصيب الولايات المتحدة، وأضاف: «بحلول أوائل مارس، قد يرتفع عدد الوفيات الناجمة من «كوفيد-19» إلى خمسة ملايين». وأشار تقرير الخبراء الصينيين إلى أن تحقيق السيناريو الأكثر تفاؤلًا، يتطلب أن يلتزم الجميع بقواعد التباعد الاجتماعي وارتداء الكمامات، وتتخذ حكومات الدول تدابير فعّالة فعلًا، مع استمرار برنامج التطعيم الشامل دون انقطاع.

وقالت وكالة أنباء الصين الجديدة (شينخوا) الرسمية: إن المستشفى هو واحد من ستة مستشفيات تضم 6 آلاف و500 غرفة في المُجمل يتم بناؤها في نانغونغ جنوب بكين في مقاطعة خبي. وبدأ بناء المشروع في 10 يناير بعد الإبلاغ عن مجموعة من حالات «كوفيد19» في المدينة، وستكون باقي الغرف جاهزة في غضون أسبوع واحد. ويجري حاليًا بناء مركز مُماثل يضم 3 آلاف غرفة في شيجياتشوانغ حاضرة المقاطعة.

وكان هناك 643 حالة إصابة مُؤكدة منقولة محليًا وحالتان وافدتان يتم علاجهما في مستشفيات في خبي، مُعظمها في شيجياتشوانغ ونانقونغ وهي مدينة على مستوى المحافظة تابعة لمدينة شينغتاي.

وذكرت وسائل إعلام صينية رسمية أمس، أن تفشي الوباء الأخير في البر الرئيسي الصيني، ناجم عن حالة مستوردة، وليس محليًا.

ونقلت قناة CCTV، عن وزير لجنة الصحة الوطنية ما شياووي قوله خلال اجتماع حكومي إن مجموعات من حالات تفشي كورونا في الصين في مقاطعاتها الشمالية مثل هوبي ولياونينغ وهيلونغجيانغ، وكذلك العاصمة بكين منذ ديسمبر الماضي، نتجت عن حالات وافدة من الخارج.
