Recent study reveals 3 new very early symptoms of Coronavirus infection

Doha: A recent study concluded 3 new and very early symptoms of infection with the emerging coronavirus, which causes “Covid-19” disease, what are these symptoms?

Researchers from the University of Barcelona conducted a study of 35 patients with Covid-19, and it was published on the MedActiv website, which is a preliminary version and has not been peer-reviewed.

According to Al-Jazeera Net, researchers have written that one of the ways the emerging coronavirus enters the body “whose scientific name is SARS-CoV-2” is the “nasal epithelium” (which is the cells lining the nasal cavity).

They added that although the increasing evidence indicates the presence of a dysfunction in the sense of smell and even a loss of this sense in “Covid-19” patients, it is not clear whether these patients also suffer from other “nasal” symptoms that may affect their sense of smell. Therefore, the aim of the researchers was to reveal whether there were early nasal symptoms.

After analyzing the data, the researchers said that more than 68% of “Covid-19” patients in the study reported at least one nasal symptom.

The researchers recorded 3 early nasal symptoms:

– A strange sensation in the nose

– Excessive dryness of the nose

-A persistent feeling of “strong nasal spray”

The researchers said that the nasal symptoms most often appeared with:

– loss of the sense of smell or decreased sense of smell

– loss of sense of taste in conjunction with the lack of sense of smell

The symptoms appeared mainly before or during the other symptoms of “Covid-19” and lasted for an average of 12 days, and the researchers said that the presence of these nasal symptoms and their early appearance may facilitate early diagnosis of “Covid-19” and direct initial social distancing efforts.

And scientists are still discovering more about the Coronavirus and its symptoms. One of the symptoms that were recently mentioned and were not known was “Bell’s palsy”, which is paralysis of the facial nerve.

The Mayo Clinic site says that among the symptoms of Bell’s palsy “also known as acute peripheral facial paralysis” sudden weakness in the facial muscles, and this weakness is temporary in most cases, and it improves significantly within weeks, and this weakness makes half of the face appear drooping. The smile is on one side, and the eye does not close on that side.

It is known that “Covid-19” disease can lead to a wide range of symptoms, and neurological problems have been reported as a complication.

الدوحة: خلصت دراسة حديثة إلى 3 أعراض جديدة، ومبكّرة جدًّا للإصابة بفيروس كورونا المستجد، المسبب لمرض “كوفيد -19” فما هي هذه الأعراض؟

أجرى باحثون من جامعة برشلونة دراسة شملت 35 مريضًا مصابًا بكوفيد-19، ونشرت في موقع  “ميدأركيف”، وهي نسخة أولية ولم تتم مراجعتها من قبل الأقران.

ووفقًا للجزيرة نت ، فقد كتب الباحثون أنّ إحدى طرق دخول فيروس كورونا المستجد -واسمه العلمي سارس كوف 2- هي “ظهارة الأنف” (nasal epithelium) (وهي الخلايا المبطنة للتجويف الأنفي).

وأضافوا أنه على الرغم من أن الأدلة المتزايدة تشير إلى وجود خلل وظيفي في حاسة الشم وحتى فقدان هذه الحاسة لدى مرضى “كوفيد-19” فإنه ليس من الواضح ما إذا كان هؤلاء المرضى يعانون أيضا من أعراض “أنفية” أخرى قد تؤثر على حاسة الشم لديهم، ولذلك كان هدف الباحثين هو الكشف عما إذا كانت توجد أعراض أنفية مبكرة.

وقال الباحثون بعد تحليل البيانات إنه أبلغ أكثر من 68% من مرضى “كوفيد-19” في الدراسة عن عرض أنفي واحد على الأقل.

وسجل الباحثون 3 أعراض أنفية مبكرة هي:

–    إحساس غريب في الأنف

–    جفاف الأنف المفرط

–    إحساس دائم بوجود “نضح أنفي قوي” 

وقال الباحثون إن الأعراض الأنفية ظهرت في الأغلب مع

–    فقدان حاسة الشم  أو تراجع حاسة الشم

–    فقدان حاسة الذوق  بالتزامن مع نقص حاسة الشم

وظهرت الأعراض بشكل أساسي قبل أو أثناء الأعراض الأخرى لـ”كوفيد-19″، واستمرت لمدة 12 يوما في المتوسط.

وقال الباحثون إن وجود هذه الأعراض الأنفية وظهورها المبكر قد يؤديان إلى تسهيل التشخيص المبكر لـ”كوفيد-19″ وتوجيه جهود التباعد الاجتماعي الأولية.

وما زال العلماء يكتشفون المزيد عن فيروس كورونا وأعراضه.

ومن الأعراض التي تمت الإشارة إليها مؤخرا ولم تكن معروفة “شلل بيل ” (Bell’s palsy)، وهو شلل في العصب الوجهي .

ويقول موقع مايو كلينك (mayoclinic) إن من أعراض شلل بيل -المعروف أيضا باسم شلل الوجه المحيطي الحاد- الضعف المفاجئ في عضلات الوجه، ويكون هذا الضعف مؤقتا في معظم الحالات، ويتحسن بشكل ملحوظ خلال أسابيع، ويجعل هذا الضعف نصف الوجه يبدو متدليا، وتكون الابتسامة على جانب واحد، ولا تنغلق العين في هذا الجانب.

ومن المعروف أن مرض “كوفيد-19” يمكن أن يؤدي إلى مجموعة واسعة من الأعراض، كما تم الإبلاغ عن مشاكل عصبية باعتبارها من مضاعفاته.
