“Pigeon” sold at auction for 1.6 million euros

Brussels: A homing pigeon originating from a Belgian farm was sold to a Chinese buyer at a record price of 1.6 million euros in an online auction organized by the specialized platform “Pigeon Parade” “PiPa”. New Kim, a female pigeon from a famous farm in the northern Antwerp region, has become the most expensive bird of its kind in the world, according to PiPa officials.

Pipa’s founder and general manager Nicholas Giselbrecht confirmed to AFP that the price at which the homing pigeon was sold was a “world record.” It should be noted that “New Kim”, which is two years old and was offered for sale mainly at a price of 200 euros, used to participate in pigeon competitions.

بروكسل: بيعت حمامةٌ زاجلة مصدرُها مزرعة بلجيكيّة لمشترٍ صينيّ بسعر قياسي بلغ 1,6 مليون يورو في مزاد علنيّ عبر الإنترنت نظّمته منصة «بيجون بارادي» المتخصصة «بيبا». وأصبحت «نيو كيم»، وهي أنثى مصدرُها مزرعةٌ شهيرة في منطقة أنتويرب «شمال»، أغلى طائر من نوعه في العالم، وَفقًا لمسؤولين في «بيبا».

وأكّد مؤسِس «بيبا»، ومديرها العام نيكولاس غيسلبريشت لوكالة فرانس برس أنَّ السعر الذي بيعت به الحمامة الزاجلة يشكّل «رقمًا قياسيًا عالميًا». وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن «نيو كيم» التي يبلغ عمرها سنتين وعُرضت للبيع أساسًا بسعر 200 يورو، درجت على المشاركة في مسابقات الحمام.
