New test to obtain US citizenship

Doha: The administration of President Donald Trump unveiled a new US citizenship test that includes extensive additions from history and physical education with the need to answer at least 60% of the questions, which experts considered longer and more difficult than the previous one that was used since 2008.

Trump’s presidency witnessed a number of changes to the laws for granting residency and citizenship, among them a proposal for the president to change the reception mechanism for those seeking asylum, including “asking them to submit asylum applications in other countries first.”

Obtaining US citizenship, according to the new test, requires applicants to answer 12 questions verbally correctly, an increase of 6 compared to the old test, which has been used since October 2008, according to Al Jazeera Net.

The new exam guide contains 128 questions in 3 categories: US government, American history, symbols and holidays, instead of 100 questions in the old version.

الدوحة: كشفت إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترامب عن اختبار جديد للحصول على الجنسية الأمريكية يضم إضافات واسعة من التاريخ والتربية البدنية مع ضرورة الإجابة عن 60% على الأقل من الأسئلة، وهو ما اعتبره الخبراء أطول وأصعب من السابق الذي كان يُستخدم منذ 2008.

وشهدت فترة رئاسة ترامب عدداً من التغييرات على قوانين منح الإقامة والجنسية، من بينها اقتراح للرئيس بتغيير آلية استقبال الذين يسعون للحصول على حق اللجوء بما يتضمن “الطلب منهم تقديم طلبات لجوء في دول أخرى أولاً”.

ويتطلب الحصول على الجنسية الأمريكية، بحسب الاختبار الجديد، إجابة المتقدمين عن 12 سؤالاً شفهياً بشكل صحيح، بزيادة 6 مقارنة بالاختبار القديم، الذي استخدم منذ أكتوبر عام 2008، بحسب موقع الجزيرة نت.

ويحتوي دليل الامتحان الجديد على 128 سؤالاً في 3 فئات هي: الحكومة الأمريكية، والتاريخ الأمريكي والرموز والأعياد، بدلاً من 100 سؤال في الإصدار القديم.
