Washington: US President-elect Joe Biden intends to sign a series of executive orders after he takes office on January 20.
Biden intends to rejoin the Paris Agreement and reverse President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the World Health Organizations, which was slated to take effect in July 2021, according to Washington Post.
Biden also wants to immediately repeal the ban on immigration targeting some countries. He will also reinstate the program allowing “Dreamers” who were brought to the US illegally as children to stay in the country. Furthermore, he intends to halt the work done to build the border wall between the United States and Mexico.
CNN News mentioned that two informed sources said that Biden will form on Monday a working group of 12 people to confront the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Biden pledged, in his first speech after his victory, to work on unifying the country and to be “a president who seeks not to divide but unify,” adding that “it is time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, listen to each other again…And to make progress, we have to stop treating our opponents as enemies.”
This came after US media announced on Saturday that the Democratic candidate Joe Biden won the elections, becoming the 46th president of the United States.
Biden received more than 290 electoral votes, surpassing the 270 needed to win.
Trump has so far rejected these results. He said in a tweet, “I won the elections, got 71, 000,000 legal votes. Bad things happened which our observers were not allowed to see,” promising unspecified judicial appeals to change the outcome of the race.

وذكرت صحيفة /واشنطن بوست/ وفقا لمصادر مقربة من حملة بايدن، أن أولى هذه القرارات، تتعلق بالعودة لاتفاقية باريس للمناخ، وإبطال انسحاب الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب من منظمة الصحة العالمية.
وأوضحت أن بايدن سيلغي حظر السفر المفروض على بعض البلدان، وسيعيد البرنامج الذي يسمح لـ “الحالمين” ، الذين قدموا إلى الولايات المتحدة بشكل غير قانوني كأطفال، بالبقاء في البلاد، إضافة إلى إيقاف العمل في بناء الجدار الحدودي بين الولايات المتحدة والمكسيك.
وكانت قناة /سي أن أن/ الإخبارية قد نقلت عن مصدرين مطلعين قولهما، إن بايدن سيشكل، غدا /الاثنين/، فريق عمل مكون من 12 شخصا لمواجهة جائحة كورونا /كوفيد-19/ .
وتعهّد بايدن في أول خطاب يلقيه بعد إعلان فوزه أمس /السبت/ في الانتخابات الرئاسية، بالعمل على توحيد بلاده، وأن يكون “رئيسا يجمع ولا يفرّق”.. قائلا “أنا ديمقراطي فخور لكنني سأعمل جاهدا من أجل الولايات المتحدة سواء لمن صوت لي أو لم يصوت.. حان وقت تنحية الخطاب القاسي وأن نحرز تقدما، ولإحرازه يجب ألا ننظر إلى خصومنا على أنهم أعداء، هم ليسوا أعداء، هم أمريكيون.. حان وقت مداواة جراح أمريكا”.
وكانت وسائل إعلام أمريكية ، أعلنت أمس /السبت/، فوز المرشح الديمقراطي جو بايدن بالانتخابات، ليصبح بذلك الرئيس الـ46 للولايات المتحدة.
وأشارت إلى حصول بايدن على أكثر من 290 من أصوات المجمع الانتخابي، متجاوزا الـ270 اللازمة للفوز، ومتفوقا على منافسه الجمهوري دونالد ترامب الذي حصل فقط على 214.
ورفض ترامب حتى الآن، هذه النتائج، وقال في تغريدة على موقع /تويتر/، “فزت بالانتخابات وحصلت على 71 مليون صوت قانوني.. أشياء سيئة حدثت، لم يسمح لمراقبينا برؤيتها”، متوعدا بطعون قضائية لم يحددها، سعيا لتغيير نتيجة السباق إلى البيت الأبيض.
