Izmir Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 69

Ankara: Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced Sunday night that the death toll from Friday’s earthquake in Turkeys Aegean region rose to 69.
AFAD said in a statement that after last Friday’s earthquake, 947 aftershocks were recorded, with 43 of them over magnitude 4.
It added that 949 people have been injured, while 729 of them discharged from hospitals; 220 people are still under treatment.
It emphasized that their teams are building temporary accommodation centers to meet the needs of citizens in the region.
According to AFAD, the teams involved are continuing search and rescue work in eight residential buildings destroyed by the 6.6-magnitude earthquake.
On Friday, an earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale struck western Turkey, especially the state of Izmir, which suffered more damage than other Turkish states.
AFAD stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was in the Aegean Sea, 17 km from the coast of the town of Seferihisar in Izmir province, and 16.54 km below the surface of the earth.

وأفادت الإدارة في بيان، أنه بعد زلزال الجمعة الماضي، تم تسجيل 947 هزة ارتدادية، بينها 43 فاقت قوتها أربع درجات.
وأشارت إلى استكمال علاج 727 شخصا في المستشفيات من أصل 949 أصيبوا جراء الزلزال، في حين أن 220 شخصا ما يزالون يخضعون للعلاج في المستشفيات.
وأكدت أن الفرق التابعة لها تقوم ببناء مراكز إقامة مؤقتة لتلبية احتياجات المواطنين في المنطقة.
وذكرت /آفاد/، أن الفرق المعنية تواصل أعمال البحث والإنقاذ في 8 مبانٍ سكنية هدمها الزلزال الذي بلغت قوته 6.6 درجة.
وكان زلزال بلغت قوته 6,6 درجة على مقياس “ريختر” ضرب، أول أمس الجمعة، مناطق غربي تركيا وخاصة ولاية إزمير التي تعرضت لدمار أكبر من الولايات التركية الأخرى.
وأوضحت /آفاد/ أن مركز الزلزال كان في بحر إيجه، ووقع على بعد 17 كلم من سواحل مدينة سفري حصار التابعة لولاية إزمير، وعلى عمق 16,54 كلم تحت سطح الأرض.
