Joint Communique by Qatar and Australia on Hamad International Airport Incident

Doha: HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, and Senator the Honourable Marise Payne, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Minister for Women of the Commonwealth of Australia, held a telephone call to discuss the Hamad International Airport incident.
HE Qatars Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his deepest sympathies with the women impacted by the search at the airport and renewed the State of Qatars apology to them, stating that the incident is considered a violation of Qatars laws and values, and that the officials involved have been referred to the Public Prosecution Office.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs assured Australias Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women of Qatars commitment to the safety and security of all passengers traveling through Hamad International Airport.
Commenting on the measures taken, Minister Payne thanked His Excellency for Qatars commitment to bring a meaningful resolution to the case, expressing Australias satisfaction with these initial steps taken by the State of Qatar to address the matter. Minister Payne said she looked forward to the State of Qatar sharing the report into the matter.
Minister Payne expressed her confidence that the Qatari government will hold the officials involved accountable in a fair, just and proportionate manner.
The two Ministers agreed to continue to monitor the case closely and exchange updates, assuring that this is a top priority for both governments.
The two Ministers further underscored the strong bilateral ties between the State of Qatar and the Commonwealth of Australia, and discussed ways to enhance this partnership in all fields of cooperation.

الدوحة: أجرى سعادة الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن آل ثاني، نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية، وسعادة السيدة ماريس باين، وزيرة الخارجية والتجارة ووزيرة المرأة في أستراليا، اتصالاً هاتفيا، لمناقشة حادثة مطار حمد الدولي.
وأعرب سعادة نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية عن تعاطفه العميق مع المسافرات المتأثرات بالتفتيش في المطار، وجدد اعتذار دولة قطر لهن، موضحاً أن الحادثة تعد انتهاكاً لقوانين وقيم دولة قطر، وأنه تم إحالة المسؤولين المعنيين إلى النيابة العامة.
كما أكد سعادة نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية لوزيرة الخارجية ووزيرة المرأة في أستراليا على التزام دولة قطر بسلامة وأمن جميع المسافرين عبر مطار حمد الدولي.
وتعليقًا على الإجراءات المتخذة، شكرت الوزيرة باين سعادته على التزام دولة قطر بحل هذه القضية، معربة عن ارتياح أستراليا لهذه الخطوات الأولية التي اتخذتها دولة قطر لمعالجة الأمر. وقالت إنها تتطلع إلى مشاركة دولة قطر لتقريرها حول ملابسات الموضوع.
كما أعربت الوزيرة باين عن ثقتها في أن الحكومة القطرية ستحاسب المسؤولين المعنيين بطريقة عادلة ومنصفة ومتناسبة.
واتفق وزيرا الخارجية على مواصلة متابعة القضية عن كثب وتبادل المستجدات، مؤكدين أنها تمثل أولوية قصوى لكلا الحكومتين.
كما أكد الوزيران على العلاقات الثنائية القوية بين دولة قطر وأستراليا، وناقشا سبل تعزيز هذه الشراكة في جميع مجالات التعاون.
