Turkey’s Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 17 deaths and 709 Injuries

Ankara: The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Department (AFAD) announced that the number of victims of the İzmir earthquake has risen to 17, and 709 injured.
AFAD said, in a statement, that the region witnessed 170 aftershocks, 21 of which had a magnitude of above 4 degrees, following the earthquake that struck the Aegean Sea off the coast of Safari Hissar district in the state of Izmir.
It confirmed that search and rescue operations are continuing in 17 buildings with the participation of various rescue teams.
Earlier in the day, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck Izmir, western Turkey.

وقالت ” آفاد ” ، في بيان، إن المنطقة شهدت 170 هزة ارتدادية، 21 منها شدتها فوق 4 درجات، عقب الزلزال الذي ضرب بحر /إيجة/، قبالة سواحل قضاء /سفري حصار/، في ولاية /إزمير/.
وأكدت أن عمليات البحث والإنقاذ مستمرة في 17 مبنى بمشاركة كوادر إنقاذ متنوعة.
وفي وقت سابق اليوم، ضرب زلزال بلغت قوته 6.6 درجات ولاية /إزمير/، غربي تركيا.
