Britain Releases James Bond-themed Collectible Coins

London: The Royal Mint, the official body responsible for British currency, released a set of commemorative coins on Wednesday dedicated to coin collectors and investors. These coins feature the iconic cinematic spy James Bond, marking the 60th anniversary of his first appearance.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Mint announced the first seven coins of this new series, stating that it provides “fans of 007 with an opportunity to collect limited-edition coins or invest in precious metals, either in gold or silver.”

Each coin depicts a famous scene from a James Bond film representing a different decade, starting with the 1960s. The initial coin showcases actor Sean Connery in the role of Bond, sitting in the “Little Nellie” autogyro from the film “You Only Live Twice.”

The visual logo “007” with a gun barrel is featured in the lower part of the coin. The announcement of the remaining coins in the series is expected later in the current and upcoming years.

The coins are available at a starting price of £14.50 (approximately $18.50) for a version made of cupro-nickel (a blend of copper and nickel) and go up to £5,305 for the most expensive version made of over 62 grams of gold.

وأوضحت الهيئة في بيان أصدرته الأربعاء وأعلنت فيه عن أولى القطع النقدية السبع أن هذه السلسلة الجديدة “توفر لمحبي +”العميل 007+ فرصة جمع عملات محدودة الإصدار أو الاستثمار في المعادن الثمينة، الذهب أو الفضة”.

وستمثّل كل من القطع مشهداً شهيراً من أحد أفلام جيمس بوند يعبّر عن عقد من الزمان، وخُصِصَت أولاها لستينات القرن العشرين، ويبدو فيها الممثل شون كونري مؤدياً دور بوند وهو جالس في طائرة الجيروكوبتر “ليتل نيلّي” ( من فيلم “يو أونلي ليف توايس”).

ويظهر الشعار البصري “007” وعليه ماسورة بندقية، في الجزء السفلي من القطعة النقدية. ويتوقع الإعلان عن بقية قطع السلسلة في وقت لاحق من السنتين الجارية والمقبلة.

وتباع القطعة بسعر يبدأ من 14,50 جنيهاً إسترلينياً (نحو 18,5 دولاراً) لنسخة من الكوبرونيكل (مزيج من النحاس والنيكل)، ويصل إلى 5305 جنيهات إسترلينية للنسخة الأغلى ثمناً، المصنوعة من أكثر من 62 غراماً من الذهب.
