NASA Discovers Farthest Black Hole Ever Detected with X-Rays

Washington: NASA has announced the discovery of the farthest black hole ever observed using X-rays, thanks to the agency’s telescopes. This finding could provide insights into the early formation of some of the universe’s first massive black holes.
According to NASA, this early-stage black hole, previously unseen, has a mass resembling that of its host galaxy. The discovery was made by combining data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and the agency’s James Webb Space Telescope. The black hole is located approximately 470 million years after the Big Bang.
The team found the black hole in a galaxy known as “UH-Z1,” in the direction of the Abell 2744 galaxy cluster, which is about 3.5 billion light-years from Earth. However, the data from the Webb Telescope revealed that the galaxy is much farther, situated at a distance of 13.2 billion light-years from Earth, when the universe was only 3% of its current age.
