قادة العالم يعتمدون إعلانا سياسيا للوقاية من الجوائح الصحية

New York: The World Health Organization welcomed todays historic commitment shown by global leaders, at the United Nations General Assembly, to strengthen the international cooperation, coordination, governance and investment needed to prevent a repeat of the devastating health and socioeconomic impact caused by COVID-19, make the world better prepared for future pandemic, and get back on track to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
“The first-ever head of state summit on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response is a historic milestone in the urgent drive to make all people of the world safer, and better protected from the devastating impacts of pandemics,” said WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
“I welcome this commitment by world leaders to provide the political support and direction needed so that WHO, governments and all involved can protect peoples health and take concrete steps towards investing in local capacities, ensuring equity and supporting the global emergency health architecture that the world needs,” he added WHO said on its official website that the political declaration, approved by President of the 78th United Nations General Assembly Dennis Francis underscored the pivotal role played by WHO as the directing and coordinating authority on international health, and the need to commit further to sustainable financing that provides adequate and predictable funding to the World Health Organization, which enables it to have the resources needed to fulfil its core functions.

نيويورك: رحبت منظمة الصحة العالمية بالالتزام الذي وصفته بالتاريخي الذي أبداه، اليوم، قادة العالم في الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، باعتمادهم إعلانا سياسيا بشأن الوقاية من الجوائح والتأهب والاستجابة لها.
وقال تيدروس أدهانوم غيبريسوس المدير العام للمنظمة، في كلمته خلال الاجتماع رفيع المستوى على هامش المناقشة العامة للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة: إن “الإعلان السياسي الذي تم اعتماده هو التزام بأننا معا سنفي بمسؤوليتنا”، مشيرا إلى أن هذه المسؤولية الجماعية تحتم ضمان حماية المجتمعات والاقتصادات.
وأضاف المسؤول الأممي: “قد نميل للشعور بأن جائحة /كوفيد-19/ قد أصبحت جزءا من الماضي، لكن التاريخ يعلمنا أنها لن تكون الجائحة الأخيرة”، لافتا إلى أن “السؤال الذي نواجهه جميعا هو ما إذا كنا سنكون مستعدين عندما تحل الجائحة المقبلة؟ تقع علينا نحن القادة مسؤولية جماعية للتأكد من أننا مستعدون”.
من جانبها، شددت أمينة محمد نائبة الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة على ضرورة “عدم تكرار أخطاء الماضي عندما تضرب الجائحة التالية، التي نعلم أنها ستحدث، وعندما تظهر تهديدات صحية أخرى.. وهذا يعني ضرورة العمل معا”.
وفي قرار تم اتخاذه بالإجماع يهدف إلى حماية العالم من الأزمات الناجمة عن الأمراض المعدية في المستقبل، وافقت جمعية الصحة العالمية، في ديسمبر عام 2021، على الشروع في عملية عالمية لصياغة نص اتفاقية أو اتفاق أو صك دولي آخر بموجب دستور منظمة الصحة العالمية، والتفاوض بشأنه، بغية تعزيز الوقاية من الجوائح والتأهب والاستجابة لها.
