AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Breaks Total Attendance Record

Doha: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced that the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 has set a new total attendance record of 1.06 million spectators, after 63,753 passionate fans packed the Al Bayt Stadium to witness defending champions Qatar emerge victorious over Palestine in the Round of 16 on Monday.

The 18th edition of Asia’s crown jewel officially surpassed the previous attendance record of 1.04 million that was set nearly two decades ago when the showpiece was held in China PR in 2004.

AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John said, “From the very beginning, we knew that the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 would take its place as the most accessible and engaging edition in the tournament’s history. Football has the undeniable power to unite communities and nowhere is that more palpable than right here in Qatar on Asia’s most prestigious stage.” “This achievement is a tribute to our passionate fans and our dear friends from the Qatar Football Association and the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Local Organizing Committee, and the AFC would like to extend our deep sense of gratitude to all our stakeholders and the people of Qatar for their unrivaled and warm hospitality.” the AFC General Secretary added.

For his part, CEO of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Jassim Al Jassim said that the record breaking attendance is a testament to Qatar’s ability to host world class sporting events, adding, “Once again, Qatar has reaffirmed its place as a global sporting capital. Our modern infrastructure and operational experience have enabled us to deliver yet another accessible and culturally engaging tournament to the highest standards.” Al Jassim said, “We’re delighted to be setting records this early in the tournament. With 11 matches still to go, the best is yet to come, with many teams showcasing exceptional performances.” AFC said that after 40 matches, the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, which very recently also eclipsed the historic 1.5 billion mark in terms of digital engagement, currently ranks second in the average attendance charts with 26,672 fans turning out to demonstrate their support per match.

The latest milestone marks the second time that a spectator attendance benchmark has been achieved in Qatar after 82,490 fans set a new record for an opening match in AFC Asian Cup history when title-holders Qatar defeated Lebanon at the spectacular Lusail Stadium on 12 January.

الدوحة: أعلن الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم أن بطولة كأس آسيا قطر 2023 شهدت تسجيل رقم قياسي جديد في مجموع الحضور الجماهيري، من خلال حضور 1.06 مليون متفرج في المباريات التي أقيمت حتى الآن، وذلك بعد تسجيل حضور 65,459 متفرجا خلال مباراة دور الـ 16، التي جمعت بين قطر المضيفة وفلسطين اليوم على استاد البيت.

وذكر الاتحاد الآسيوي أن النسخة الثامنة عشرة من جوهرة بطولات قارة آسيا نجحت في تجاوز الرقم القياسي السابق، الذي تم تسجيله قبل عقدين، عندما حضر 1.04 مليون متفرج مباريات كأس آسيا 2004 في الصين.

وقال داتوك سري ويندسور جون أمين عام الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم، إنهم واثقون منذ البداية بأن كأس آسيا قطر 2023 سوف تأخذ مكانها كإحدى أكثر النسخ وصولا وتفاعلا في تاريخ البطولة، وأن كرة القدم تمتلك قدرة واضحة على توحيد المجتمعات، ولا يوجد مكان يمكن أن نلمس به هذا الأمر مثل قطر عبر أهم بطولات قارة آسيا.

وأكد أمين عام الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم أن هذا الإنجاز تحقق بفضل الجماهير المتحمسة، والاتحاد القطري لكرة القدم، واللجنة المحلية المنظمة لكأس آسيا قطر 2023، وقال: يود الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم أن يعرب عن عميق امتنانه لكافة الأطراف المعنية، وإلى الشعب القطري على ترحيبهم وضيافتهم منقطعي النظير.

من جانبه، اعتبر جاسم الجاسم، الرئيس التنفيذي للجنة المحلية المنظمة لكأس آسيا قطر 2023، أن الرقم القياسي في الحضور الجماهيري يعتبر دليلا على قدرات قطر على استضافة أهم الأحداث الرياضية العالمية.

وقال الجاسم: إن قطر أكدت من جديد موقعها كعاصمة للرياضة العالمية، حيث إن البنية التحتية الحديثة في قطر، وخبراتنا العملياتية، تمكناننا من تنظيم بطولة سهلة الوصول وتحظى باستقطاب ثقافي وفق أعلى المعايير.

وأعرب الرئيس التنفيذي للجنة المحلية المنظمة للبطولة عن سعادته بتسجيل الأرقام القياسية في هذا الوقت المبكر من البطولة، حيث ما زالت هناك 11 مباراة متبقية، ولا يزال الأفضل بانتظارنا، حيث يواصل العديد من المنتخبات تقديم عروض استثنائية.

وأشار الاتحاد الآسيوي إلى أنه الآن وبعد مرور 40 مباراة من منافسات كأس آسيا قطر 2023، نجحت البطولة في تسجيل 1.5 مليار انطباع عبر مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، وأن البطولة تأتي بالمرتبة الثانية من ناحية معدل الحضور الجماهيري، بمعدل 26,714 متفرجا للمباراة الواحدة.

وهذا هو الرقم القياسي الثاني الذي يتم تسجيله في هذه النسخة من كأس آسيا، بعد تحطيم الرقم القياسي في الحضور الجماهيري خلال المباراة الافتتاحية التي شهدت حضور 82,490 متفرجا، عندما تقابلت قطر المضيفة مع لبنان على استاد لوسيل يوم 12 يناير الجاري.
