Archaeological Site Dating Back 3,000 Years Found in North China

Beijing: Archaeologists have unearthed a relics site dating back to the late period of the Xia Dynasty (2070 B.C.-1600 B.C.) in north China’s Shanxi Province, according to the Shanxi provincial institute of archaeology.
Located along the lower reaches of the Fenhe River, the site in Jishan County of Yuncheng City covers an area of about 100,000 to 150,000 square meters. Authorities carried out excavations of the site in both 2021 and 2022.
From April to August 2021, archaeologists mainly discovered two pottery kilns and 43 pits. The two pottery kilns are composed of a kiln chamber, kiln bed, fire chamber and an operation room.
From October to November 2022, staff working at the site found a large pit and a kiln west of the pit. The pit has a length of about 23.5 meters from east to west, a width of about 7 meters from north to south, and a height of 2 to 4 meters.
Leader of the archaeological project, Cui Junjun said that the unearthed relics included pottery, stone tools, bone tools, jade articles and clams.
In addition to artificial products, abundant animal and plant remains were discovered, and 250,000 carbonized plant seeds, most of which are millet seeds, were also found via the flotation method.

بكين: قال معهد علم الآثار بمقاطعة شانشي في شمالي الصين، إن علماء الآثار عثروا على موقع تاريخي يعود إلى أواخر عهد أسرة شيا (2070-1600 قبل الميلاد) في المقاطعة.
ويقع الموقع على طول المجرى الأسفل لنهر فنخه، في محافظة جيشان بمدينة يونتشنغ، ويغطي مساحة تبلغ قرابة 100 ألف إلى 150 ألف متر مربع. وبدأت السلطات المعنية أعمال التنقيب للموقع في عامي 2021 و2022.
وفي الفترة ما بين شهري أبريل وأغسطس من العام 2021، عثر علماء الآثار بشكل رئيسي على فرنين للخزف و43 حفرة رماد، حيث يتكون الفرنان من غرفة فرن وسرير فرن وغرفة للحرق وغرفة العمل.
وخلال الفترة ما بين شهري أكتوبر إلى نوفمبر من العام 2022، عثر العاملون على حفرة رماد كبيرة وفرن إلى غربي الحفرة، حيث بلغ طول الحفرة 23.5 متر من الشرق إلى الغرب، وبعرض نحو 7 أمتار من الشمال إلى الجنوب، وبارتفاع ما بين 2-4 أمتار.
وفي هذا السياق، قال تسوي جيون جيون، رئيس مشروع التنقيب إن الآثار المكتشفة شملت فخاريات، وأدوات حجرية، وعظمية، وأعمال يشمية وأصداف محار.
وبالإضافة إلى المنتجات الصناعية، تم اكتشاف كمية كبيرة من بقايا الحيوانات والنباتات في الموقع، إلى جانب 250 ألفا من بذور نبات متفحمة، معظمها لبذور الدخن.
