Cairo International Days for Monodrama Festival Launches Fifth Edition

Doha: The Cairo International Days for Monodrama Festival launched its fifth edition on Monday at the Cairo Opera House’s small hall with the participation of performances from 13 Arab and foreign countries and will continue until Friday 16 September.
Following the opening ceremonies and speeches on Monday, Romanias show Edith Piaf was showcased at the small hall.
A number of artists were also honored during the festival, including the late Khaled Saleh, the Egyptian director Khaled Galal, the German director Matthias Gehrt, along with the late artist Shamaa Mohammed from Oman, the late Egyptian director Mahmoud Al-Alfi, and the Egyptian artist Leqa Al-Khamisi.
Under the helm of the festival director and founder Osama Raouf, 14 countries including Egypt, Romania, USA, Kosovo, Germany, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Netherlands, Sri Lanka and Morocco, are participating in the main competitions and different activities.
The jury of the official competition of the festival is headed by Dr. Osama Abu Talib, in addition to the membership of the German director Matthias Gehrt and the Omani artist Talib Al Balushi.

الدوحة: انطلقت بدار الأوبرا المصرية في القاهرة يوم أمس، فعاليات النسخة الخامسة لمهرجان أيام القاهرة الدولي للمونودراما، بمشاركة عروض من 13 دولة عربية وأجنبية.
وافتتح المهرجان بعرض مسرحي بعنوان اديث بياف من رومانيا.
كما تم خلال المهرجان تكريم نخبة من الفنانين، من بينهم الفنان الراحل خالد صالح، والمخرج المصري خالد جلال، والمخرج الألماني ماتياس جيرت، إلى جانب الفنانة الراحلة شمعة محمد من سلطنة عمان، والمخرج المصري الراحل محمود الألفي، والفنانة المصرية لقاء الخميسي.
ويشارك في فعاليات المهرجان الذي يستمر حتى 16 سبتمبر الجاري نخبة من المسرحيين العرب والدوليين، ويترأس لجنة تحكيم المسابقة الرسمية للمهرجان الدكتور أسامة أبو طالب، إلى جانب عضوية كل من المخرج الألماني ماتياس جيرت، والفنان العماني طالب البلوشي.
وتشارك 10 دول في المسابقة الرسمية للمهرجان، وهي: السعودية، العراق، الأردن، السودان، سوريا، رومانيا، الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، كوسوفا، وألمانيا، بالإضافة الى الدولة المضيفة مصر.
