Archaeologists locate lost palace of Genghis Khan’s grandson

Ankara: A joint Turkish and Mongolian excavation team discovered the remains of a “summer palace” likely built for Hulagu Khan, grandson of Genghis Khan, dating back to the mid-thirteenth century, in Van Province, eastern Turkey.
The joint excavation team, led by Ercel Caglitu of Izmir University, found remains of roof tiles, bricks, and ceramic pottery with symbols resembling the letter “S” in the English language, the same symbols that were previously used as “a sign of strength for Mughal rulers”.
These discoveries indicate that the Mongols had a large presence in the region.
And the website “Live Science” reported that the discovered symbols indicate the possibility of building this palace during the period of the Ilkhanid Mongol state during the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.

وتشير هذه الاكتشافات إلى أن المغول كان لهم وجود كبير في المنطقة.
وأفاد موقع /لايف ساينس/ ان الرموز المكتشفة تشير الى احتمالية بناء هذا القصر خلال فترة الدولة المغولية الإلخانية خلال القرنين الثالث عشر والرابع عشر.
