Waterman: “The difference between a cleaner in a five-star hotel and a royal palace is an eye for detail.”
In the royal application process that means: Whoever sees the fly and picks it up gets the job. Because: The perfect cleaner MUST be attentive.
“I expect you to see the dead fly and hopefully pick it up. Perhaps half of the candidates will notice the fly. One in ten will actually bend down and pick them up. THAT is the special housekeeper. Then the stress of the interview was worth it. ”
However, there is a royal reward for the bizarre job interview. If you are hired, you can even live in the palace and get extra food and travel expenses.

ووفق ما نقله موقع “الجزيرة” عن صحيفة “لوفيغارو” الفرنسية فإن على موظفي قصر باكنغهام، الذين تم اختيارهم بعناية للانضمام إلى خدمة العائلة المالكة في بريطانيا، أن يجتازوا العديد من الاختبارات، للتأكد من كونهم مؤهلين تأهيلا عاليا، كما ورد في فيلم وثائقي بثته “القناة الخامسة” تحت عنوان “سندرينغهام: المملكة في عيد الميلاد”.
وفي هذا الوثائقي، قدمت تريسي ووترمان، المسؤولة عن اكتتاب موظفي الملكة إليزابيث الثانية، بعض التفاصيل عن محتوى الاختبارات التي يخضع لها الموظفون المستقبليون، ومن بين هذه الاختبارات ما أطلقت عليه “اختبار الذبابة الميتة”.
الاختبار الغريب
وأوضحت المسؤولة أن أحد الاختبارات التي تحب إجراءها لمعرفة مدى إدراك المرشح للتفاصيل الدقيقة، هو وضع ذبابة ميتة إما في المدخنة أو على السجادة قبل أن يدخل المرشح إلى الغرفة، حتى تتاح لهم فرصة رؤية الحشرة، لتعرف هل سيلاحظون وجود الحشرة وكيف سيتصرفون معها، مشيرة إلى أن المرشحين لا يكونون على علم بهذا الاختبار الغريب مطلقا.
وتقول تريسي ووترمان إنه يجب أن يكون المرشح لخدمة جلالة الملكة قادرا على اكتشاف أي تفاصيل غير طبيعية، ولذلك فإن هذا الاختبار إقصائي، لا يتجاوزه عادة سوى واحد وهو الذي سينحني لالتقاط الحشرة من بين الخمسة الذين لاحظوا وجودها من أصل 10 مرشحين.
وترى مسؤولة الاستقطاب أن هذا المحظوظ الذي يتخطى اختبار الذبابة الميتة غالبا ما تجرى له المقابلة بسرعة، وعند دخول قصر باكنغهام، يتلقى راتبا سنويا قدره 22 ألفا و500 يورو مع السكن والغذاء.
