China records world’s first death with “Monkey B Virus”
الصين تسجل أول حالة وفاة في العالم بـ “الفيروس القردي B”
China has recorded the world’s first human death from the monkey B virus, according to the Chinese newspaper, “Global Times”.
On Sunday, the newspaper revealed the death of a veterinarian in Beijing, the first human case in China and the world with the virus.
The 53-year-old veterinarian, who worked for an institution that search at non-human primates, developed early symptoms of nausea and vomiting, a month after dissecting two dead monkeys in early May, the newspaper quoted the Chinese weekly CDC website as saying.
The newspaper’s website pointed out that the veterinarian requested treatment in several hospitals and eventually died, pointing out that there were no fatal or even clinically obvious infections of this virus in China before, so the condition of the veterinarian represents the first case of human infection identified in China, as following the death of the veterinarian, China intensified surveillance of monkeys in the laboratory and the staff who came into contact with them.
The virus, originally isolated in 1932, can be transmitted through direct contact and body secretions, with a mortality rate of 70-80%, the paper said.

وكشفت الصحيفة، يوم الأحد، عن وفاة طبيب بيطري في بكين، كأول حالة إصابة بشرية في الصين والعالم بالفيروس.
ونقلت الصحيفة عن موقع المنصة الإنجليزية الأسبوعية الصينية CDC للمركز الصيني لمكافحة الأمراض والوقاية منها، أن الطبيب البيطري البالغ من العمر 53 عاما، كان يعمل في مؤسسة تبحث في الرئيسيات غير البشرية، وظهرت عليه أعراض مبكرة من الغثيان والقيء، بعد شهر من تشريح اثنين من القرود الميتة في أوائل مايو الماضي .
وأشار موقع الصحيفة إلى أن الطبيب البيطري طلب العلاج في عدة مستشفيات وتوفي في النهاية ، لافتاً إلى أنه لم تكن هناك إصابات قاتلة أو حتى واضحة سريريا بهذا الفيروس في الصين من قبل، وبالتالي فإن حالة الطبيب البيطري تمثل أول حالة إصابة بشرية تم تحديدها في الصين، إذ إنه وعلى أثر وفاة الطبيب البيطري، كثفت الصين مراقبة القرود في المختبر والموظفين المخالطين لهم.
وأوضحت الصحيفة أنه يمكن أن ينتقل الفيروس، الذي تم عزله في الأصل عام 1932، عن طريق الاتصال المباشر وعن طريق إفرازات الجسم، ويذكر أن معدل الوفيات به تصل إلى 70-80%.
