QRCS Supports Rights of Women and People With Disabilities in Gaza Strip

Gaza: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) organized a community meeting entitled “Protecting and Respecting the Rights of Women, Girls, Marginalized People with Disabilities and Survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the Gaza Strip”, as part of the project implemented by the Womens Affairs Center (WAC) in Gaza in partnership with QRCS and the Red Crescent Society for the Gaza Strip, with the support of the European Union.

The meeting was attended by 39 participants including representatives of civil society institutions and youth activists in the northern Gaza Strip.

Participants agreed to recommend the need to improve the economic and social conditions of women and people with disabilities by supporting their access to their law-guaranteed rights, with a focus on educating the public through the media and social media platforms about the importance of appreciating and respecting the role of women in the community as a key requirement for a secure society that is free from GBV.

The project includes the provision of psychosocial, social, health, and economic support services to marginalized women in northern Gaza and central governorates, among certain considerations of the fragility of intervention areas, where the highest rates of GBV were recorded.

Through the project, QRCS trains 54 women, half of whom are disabled, to manage small enterprises, and 12 women and girls benefit from financial grants to implement small income-generating projects. The project also includes the implementation of awareness training with the participation of 51 women, after which 12 women and girls, half of whom are disabled, are selected to benefit from temporary employment contracts for three months as part of the training outcomes.

In addition, the Qatari Red Crescent is carrying out a range of media activities within the project, including the production of a documentary, a visual report, radio episode and radio spots, in addition to sending short text messages to about 10,000 people to raise awareness of the importance of supporting women’s rights in the local community.

One of the QRCS’ most important principles is the principle of humanity and impartiality, based on the focus of its work, which is the human being, without discrimination on the basis of language, gender, race, or religion.

QRCS is in line with the state’s orientations of gender equality and the empowerment of women to contribute to the development process. Women are an essential partner in all the successes of QRCS, as they are one of the most important groups benefiting from the social and development assistance it provides, and in turn, they are an active part in providing such assistance through trained and qualified volunteers in various aspects of volunteer work.

غزه: نظم الهلال الأحمر القطري لقاء مجتمعيا تحت عنوان /حماية واحترام حقوق النساء والفتيات وذوات الإعاقة المهمشات والناجيات من العنف المبني على النوع الاجتماعي في قطاع غزة/، وذلك ضمن المشروع الذي ينفذه مركز شؤون المرأة في غزة بالشراكة مع الهلال الأحمر القطري وجمعية الهلال الأحمر لقطاع غزة، وبدعم من الاتحاد الأوروبي.

حضر اللقاء 39 مشاركا ومشاركة من رجال وسيدات الإصلاح، وممثلي مؤسسات المجتمع المدني، والنشطاء الشباب بمحافظة شمال قطاع غزة.

وقد اتفق المشاركون على التوصية بضرورة تحسين الظروف الاقتصادية والاجتماعية للنساء وذوات الإعاقة، من خلال دعم سبل حصولهن على حقوقهن المكفولة بالقانون، مع التركيز على توعية الجمهور من خلال وسائل الإعلام ومنصات التواصل الاجتماعي بأهمية تقدير واحترام دور المرأة في المجتمع المحلي، كمطلب رئيسي نحو الوصول إلى مجتمع آمن ينأى عن العنف المبنى على النوع الاجتماعي.

ويتضمن المشروع تقديم خدمات الدعم النفسي والاجتماعي والصحي والاقتصادي للنساء المهمشات في محافظات الشمال وغزة والوسطى، وذلك ضمن اعتبارات معينة تتمثل في هشاشة مناطق التدخل، حيث سجلت فيها أعلى معدلات للعنف المبني على النوع الاجتماعي.

ويدرب الهلال الأحمر القطري من خلال المشروع 54 سيدة، نصفهن من ذوات الإعاقة، على إدارة المشاريع الصغيرة، كما تستفيد 12 سيدة وفتاة من منح مالية لتنفيذ مشاريع صغيرة مدرة للدخل. وكذلك يشمل المشروع تنفيذ تدريبات توعوية بمشاركة 51 سيدة، يتم على إثرها اختيار 12 سيدة وفتاة، نصفهن من ذوات الإعاقة، للاستفادة من عقود تشغيل مؤقتة لمدة 3 شهور ضمن مخرجات التدريب.

وبالإضافة إلى ذك، ينفذ الهلال الأحمر القطري مجموعة من الأنشطة الإعلامية ضمن المشروع، ومنها إنتاج فيلم وثائقي وتقرير مرئي وحلقة إذاعية وسبوتات إذاعية، إلى جانب إرسال رسائل نصية قصيرة لحوالي 10,000 شخص للتوعية بأهمية دعم حقوق المرأة في المجتمع المحلي.

يذكر أن أحد أهم مبادئ الهلال الأحمر القطري مبدأ الإنسانية وعدم التحيز، انطلاقا من محور عمله وهو الإنسان، دون تفرقة على أساس اللغة أو الجنس أو العرق أو الدين، ويتماشى الهلال الأحمر القطري مع توجهات الدولة بالمساواة بين الجنسين وتمكين المرأة للمساهمة في عملية التنمية. وتعد المرأة شريكا أساسيا في كل نجاحات الهلال الأحمر القطري، فهي من أهم الفئات المستفيدة من المساعدات الاجتماعية والتنموية التي يقدمها، كما أنها في المقابل طرف فاعل في تقديم تلك المساعدات من خلال المتطوعات المدربات والمؤهلات في مختلف جوانب العمل التطوعي.
