Qatar-Sri Lanka Joint Committee Meet Regarding Manpower Employment Agreement

Doha: The Qatar-Sri Lanka Joint Committee, represented by the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs and the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met on Wednesday regarding the Agreement concerning the Regulation of Sri Lankan Manpower Employment in the State of Qatar, held via video communication technology.
The Qatari side was headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs at the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs Mohammed Hassan Al Obaidly, and the Sri Lankan side was headed by HE Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Mohamed Mafaz Mohideen.
During the committee’s meeting, they discussed aspects of joint cooperation in the field of labor recruitment in the State of Qatar, in addition to following up on the agenda and workflow procedures between the two sides.
The committee discussed topics related to the work of the visa center and the necessary medical examinations, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. They also reviewed the developments in the labor laws in the State of Qatar and the facilitation of procedures for the recruitment of Sri Lankan skilled workers, and related issues.

الدوحة: اجتمعت يوم الأمس اللجنة القطرية – السريلانكية المشتركة بشأن اتفاقية تنظيم القوى العاملة السريلانكية في دولة قطر، متمثلة بوزارة التنمية الإدارية والعمل والشؤون الاجتماعية،ووزارة الخارجية السريلانكية، وذلك عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي.
ترأس الجانب القطري السيد محمد حسن العبيدلي وكيل الوزارة المساعد لشؤون العمل بوزارة التنمية الإدارية والعمل والشؤون الاجتماعية، وعن الجانب السريلانكي سعادة السيد محمد مفاز محيي الدين سفير جمهورية سريلانكا لدى الدولة.
جرى خلال اجتماع اللجنة ، بحث أوجه التعاون المشترك في مجال استقدام العمالة في دولة قطر، بالإضافة إلى متابعة جدول الأعمال وإجراءات سير العمل بين الجانبين.
وتطرقت اللجنة إلى مناقشة الموضوعات المتعلقة بعمل مركز التأشيرات والفحوصات الطبية اللازمة لاسيما خلال جائحة /كوفيد-19/، كما استعرضت التطورات التي طرأت على قوانين العمل في دولة قطر وتسهيل إجراءات استقدام العمالة الماهرة السريلانكية، وما يتصل بها من موضوعات.
