QC Implemented Over 56,000 Water, Sanitation Projects During Past 5 Years

Doha: Qatar Charity (QC) announced that the number of water and sanitation projects that it implemented in several countries from 2016 to 2021 amounted to more than 56,000 projects, at a cost of more than QR 435 million, benefiting more than 17 million people around the world.

QC explained that the water projects implemented in 2021 alone amounted to 10,000 projects, benefiting more than 6 million people, at a total cost of nearly QR 101 million, in Bangladesh, Nigeria, Kosovo, Senegal, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Albania and Somalia. Togo, Mali, Chad and Palestine.

This came in a report released by Qatar Charity on the occasion of The World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, which is observed on June 17 each year.

Through its office in Somalia, Qatar Charity has worked to activate its strategic partnerships with international organizations such as the United Nations Children’s Fund, the Food and Agriculture Organization, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Medical Corps, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as its membership in the NGO Alliance in Somalia.

Qatar Charity is one of the most important international organizations working to combat drought and desertification in several regions of the world through several projects in this regard, from drilling and equipping surface and deep wells, establishing and equipping water purification plants and sewage facilities, equipping its networks, and maintaining and rehabilitating water and sanitation facilities. It is also keen to enable poor and drought-affected communities to obtain safe drinking water sources in their areas.

الدوحة: أعلنت قطر الخيرية أن عدد مشاريع المياه والإصحاح التي نفذتها في عدة دول من سنة 2016 إلى 2021 بلغ أكثر من 56 ألف مشروع، بكلفة تجاوزت 435 مليون ريال قطري، واستفاد منها أكثر من 17 مليون شخص حول العالم.

وأوضحت أن مشاريع المياه التي نفذتها سنة 2021 فقط بلغت 10 آلاف مشروع، استفاد منها أكثر من 6 ملايين شخص، بكلفة إجمالية ناهزت 101 مليون ريال قطري، وذلك في كل من بنغلاديش، نيجيريا، كوسوفا، السنغال، كينيا، ساحل العاج، ألبانيا، الصومال، توجو، مالي، تشاد وفلسطين.

جاء ذلك في تقرير لقطر الخيرية بمناسبة اليوم العالمي لمقاومة التصحر الذي يصادف غدا /الخميس/ السابع عشر من شهر يونيو كل عام، ويحتفى به هذا العام تحت شعار /أرض سليمة لإعادة البناء على نحو أفضل .. إصلاح النظم الايكولوجية .. الأرض..التعافي/.

ومن خلال مكتبها في الصومال، عملت قطر الخيرية على تفعيل شراكاتها الاستراتيجية مع منظمات دولية مثل صندوق الأمم المتحدة للطفولة، ومنظمة الأغذية والزراعة، والمفوضية السامية للاجئين، والهيئة الطبية الدولية، واللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر، فضلا عن عضويتها في تحالف المنظمات غير الحكومية في الصومال.

وتعد قطر الخيرية أحد أهم المنظمات الدولية التي تعمل على مقاومة الجفاف والتصحر في عدة مناطق بالعالم من خلال عدة مشاريع في هذا الخصوص، تنوعت بين حفر وتجهيز الآبار السطحية والعميقة، وإنشاء وتجهيز محطات تنقية المياه ومرافق الصرف الصحي وتجهيز شبكاته وصيانة وتأهيل منشآت المياه والإصحاح.

كما إنها تحرص في هذا الصدد على تمكين المجتمعات الفقيرة والمتضررة من الجفاف للحصول على مصادر مياه صالحة للشرب في مناطق تواجدها.
