MME Participates in Ambient Air Quality Standards for GCC Workshop

Doha: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME),represented by the Monitoring and Environmental Laboratory Department of the Environmental Affairs Sector, participated in a special workshop on ambient air quality standards for the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which was held via video communication technology.

The two-day workshop was attended by the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, World Health Organization and the Austrian Environment Agency, within the framework of the cooperation agreement signed between the United Nations Environment Program and the GCC.

During the workshop, a number of topics on the agenda were reviewed, it included ambient air quality standards in the GCC, the contribution of natural dust and dust storms and their impact on fine particles, and other related topics.

This workshop contributes to understanding and monitoring ambient air quality objectives in order to achieve the best results.

The State of Qatar is considered one of the first countries in placing air quality among its priorities.

الدوحة: شاركت وزارة البلدية والبيئة، ممثلة بإدارة الرصد والمختبر البيئي التابع لقطاع شؤون البيئة، في ورشة عمل خاصة حول معايير جودة الهواء المحيط لدول مجلس التعاون الخليجي، التي عقدت عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي.

شارك في الورشة، التي استمرت يومين، الأمانة العامة لمجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية ومنظمة الصحة العالمية ووكالة البيئة النمساوية، وذلك في نطاق اتفاقية التعاون الموقعة بين برنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة ومجلس التعاون.

وتم خلال الورشة استعراض ومناقشة عدد من الموضوعات المدرجة على جدول الأعمال، والتي تضمنت معايير جودة الهواء المحيط في دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي، ومساهمة الغبار الطبيعي والعواصف الترابية وتأثير ذلك على الجسيمات الدقيقة، وغيرها من المواضيع ذات العلاقة.

وتساهم هذه الورشة في فهم ورصد أهداف نوعية الهواء المحيط بما يحقق أفضل النتائج.

وتعتبر دولة قطر من الدول السباقة في وضع جودة الهواء ضمن أولوياتها.
