New clarification from the Qatari Consulate in Switzerland

Doha: The Consulate General of Qatar in Geneva has issued a new clarification on the procedures and laws for travel to Switzerland and the fact that those coming from Doha are quarantined.

In a statement on Its official Twitter account on Monday, The Consulate tweeted: “In the face of the many questions and inquiries we have received about the procedures and laws of travel to Switzerland and in order to provide correct and accurate information in this regard based on what we receive from the Swiss authorities, the Consulate General of Qatar in Geneva would like to draw the attention of its distinguished citizens to the following:

Since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, Switzerland has imposed a series of procedures and restrictions on people wishing to travel there, temporarily suspending the issuance and acceptance of tourist visas issued, including Schengen visas, i.e. all previous visas issued by Switzerland and the European Union (Schengen) are currently not in effect.

Removing the name of the State of Qatar from the list of countries from which those coming to Switzerland must be subject to quarantine does not mean that travel from Qatar to Switzerland for the purpose of tourism is permitted.

“People who will review the Swiss Embassy in Doha and can obtain an entry permit, which is granted under specific conditions and requirements such as urgent medical treatment, study, official tasks, etc., do not need to be quarantined upon arrival in Switzerland”. It added

In order to obtain more information on the travel conditions to Switzerland, the validity of Schengen visas to enter Switzerland and any other inquiries, please contact the Swiss Embassy in Doha.

Yesterday, the consulate said in a series of tweets about what was circulated in the media about Switzerland’s exemption from quarantine for Qatari citizens upon entering its territory, explaining that this exemption from quarantine upon arrival in Switzerland includes people who are currently allowed to enter Switzerland (Swiss citizens and holders of a residence card. Swiss and other individual cases).

Switzerland had now removed Qatar from the list of countries in need of quarantine. Therefore, all those from Qatar to Switzerland with a new visa will not need to be quarantined upon arrival on Swiss lands.

وقالت في بيان عبر حسابها الرسمي بموقع تويتر، يوم الإثنين: أمام كثرة التساؤلات والاستفسارات التي وردتنا حول إجراءات وقوانين السفر إلى سويسرا وحرصاً على تقديم معلومات صحيحة ودقيقة في هذا الشان استناداً إلى ما نتلقاه من السلطات السويسرية، تود القنصلية العامة لدولة قطر في جنيف أن تلفت عناية مواطنيها الكرام إلى التالي:

منذ بدء جائحة كورونا، فرضت سويسرا سلسلة من الإجراءات والقيود على الأشخاص الراغبين في السفر إليها، حيث أوقفت منذ تاريخ 19 مارس 2020 بشكل مؤقت إصدار وقبول تأشيرات السفر السياحية التي سبق إصدارها بما في ذلك تأشيرات شينغن، أي أن جميع تأشيرات الدخول السابقة الصادرة من سويسرا والاتحاد الأوروبي (الشينغن) غير نافذة المفعول حالياً.

إن رفع اسم دولة قطر من قائمة الدول التي يجب أن يخضع القادمين منها إلى سويسرا إلى الحجر لا يعني السماح بالسفر من دولة قطر إلى سويسرا بغرض السياحة.

وأضافت: أما الأشخاص الذين سيراجعون السفارة السويسرية في الدوحة ويستطيعون الحصول على تصريح بالدخول، يتم منحها وفق شروط ومتطلبات محددة كالعلاج الطبي المستعجل والدراسة والمهام الرسمية وغيرها، فهم ليسوا بحاجة إلى الحجر عند وصولهم إلى سويسرا.

وقالت إنه من أجل الحصول على المزيد من المعلومات حول شروط السفر إلى سويسرا وصلاحية تأشيرات الشينغن لدخول سويسرا وأية استفسارات أخرى يرجى التواصل مع سفارة سويسرا في الدوحة.

وأمس قالت القنصلية في سلسلة تغريدات بشأن ما تم تداوله في وسائل الإعلام حول إعفاء سويسرا لمواطني قطر من الحجر الصحي عند الدخول لأراضيها، موضحة أن هذا الإعفاء من الحجر الصحي عند الوصول إلى سويسرا يشمل الأشخاص المسموح لهم حالياً بالدخول إلى سويسرا (المواطنين السويسريين وحملة بطاقة الإقامة السويسرية وغيرهم من الحالات الفردية).

وأشارت إلى أن سويسرا قد رفعت حالياً اسم دولة قطر من قائمة الدول التي تحتاج إلى حجر صحي. وعليه، فإن جميع القادمين من دولة قطر إلى سويسرا ولديهم تأشيرة سفر جديدة لن يحتاجوا إلى قضاء فترة الحجر الصحي عند وصولهم إلى الأراضي السويسرية.
