QRCS Office in Gaza Resumes Work

Doha: The representation office of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) in Gaza has resumed its humanitarian and relief operations, days after it was bombed by airstrikes in the recent 11-day war on Gaza.

QRCS said in a press statement today that, in cooperation with Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), QRCS continued the distribution of food aid to the poor and war-affected families of Gaza.

The press release added that volunteers of the two National Societies delivered 600 food parcels to families whose houses were partially or completely damaged due to the war. Set by PRCS and the Ministry of Social Development, the criteria of selection included the poorest families, older persons with chronic diseases, and persons with disability.

A delegation from QRCSs office in Gaza took part in a field tour by representatives of Palestines Ministry of Health (MOH) and a number of international organizations to survey the damage to many health facilities. They visited the Hala Al-Shawa Primacy Care Center in Beit Lahia and the MOH-owned Al-Remal Martyrs Clinic in Gaza City.

Another visit was made to the Emergency Department at the Al-Shefaa Medical Complex. Headed by Maha Al-Banna, Program Manager at QRCSs office, the delegation met Dr. Mohamed Al-Attar, a QRCS-hired emergency medicine specialist and training supervisor at the QRCS-funded project to enhance emergency medicine services by capacity-building for Gaza physicians.

“MOH adopted the emergency management plan we proposed,” said Dr. Al-Attar. “It involves activating a mass injury management program at emergency departments to deal with all injuries. Intensive training was given to 60 physicians and nurses to build their skills of emergency assessment, prioritization, and regulation of available capacities to hospitalize as many cases as possible”.

“Under QRCSs project, emergency departments were supported with vital signs monitors. MOH provided departments with competent orthopedists and cardiothoracic/cardiovascular surgeons to serve injured patients. Medical tents were distributed to most hospitals of the blockade, equipped with all the medical beds and equipment to respond to emergencies. This helped to reduce the pressure on normal emergency departments,” he added.

According to him, the trainees under the QRCS-funded Emergency Medicine Program hired by the Al-Shefaa Medical Complexs emergency departments showed outstanding performance, which reflected the benefits of practice.

In coordination with international organizations, more medications and medical consumables are being procured to make hospitals better prepared for emergencies, especially amid the current unfavorable situation.

Dr. Mohamed Klob, a QRCS-hired consultant vascular surgeon, and his team are performing significant life-saving surgeries on a daily basis at the Nasser Medical Complex and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in northern Gaza.

So far, 43 surgeries have been performed for injured and emergency patients, including three major cases (aortic surgery, artery graft, and carotid/pulmonary arterial surgery) for victims injured by splinters. All the procedures were successful, and the patients were miraculously saved.

The Gaza Specialized Surgery Support Project sponsors seven consultant physicians in the specialties of cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery, orthopedics, urology, and anesthetics. Since the beginning of the recent war, 106 surgical interventions have been completed.

الدوحة: أعلن الهلال الأحمر القطري عن تواصل النشاطات الإنسانية في مكتبه بقطاع غزة واستمراره في تنفيذ مشاريعه الإنسانية والإغاثية هناك بنفس الوتيرة، رغم تعرضه للدمار نتيجة استهداف البناية التي يقع فيها بالقصف المباشر منتصف الأسبوع الماضي.

وقال الهلال الأحمر القطري في بيان له اليوم، إنه وبالتعاون مع الهلال الأحمر الفلسطيني، يواصل تقديم المساعدات والطرود الغذائية للعائلات الفقيرة المتضررة من العدوان الإسرائيلي على غزة، والذي راح ضحيته 219 شهيداً من بينهم 63 طفلاً و36 سيدة و16 مسناً، بالإضافة إلى 1,530 جريحاً بحسب إحصائيات وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية.

وذكر البيان أن طواقم الهلال الأحمر القطري ونظيره الفلسطيني قامت بتوزيع 600 طرد غذائي على العائلات المتضررة بمدينة غزة ممن أصيبت منازلهم بدمار كلي أو جزئي جراء العدوان، بالإضافة إلى من تنطبق عليهم المعايير التي حددها الهلال الأحمر الفلسطيني ووزارة التنمية الاجتماعية، وتضمنت العائلات الأشد فقراً وكبار السن من أصحاب الأمراض المزمنة وذوي الإعاقة.

وشارك فريق من مكتب الهلال الأحمر القطري بغزة في جولة ميدانية مع وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية وعدد من المؤسسات الدولية الشريكة لمعاينة الأضرار التي لحقت بعدد من المراكز الصحية في قطاع غزة.

وفي سياق متصل، تفقد وفد من الهلال الأحمر القطري سير العمل في قسم الطوارئ بمجمع الشفاء الطبي، والذي يتم من خلاله مشروع “دعم خدمات طب الطوارئ من خلال تعزيز قدرات الأطباء في قطاع غزة”، والذي يدعمه الهلال الأحمر القطري.

وقال الدكتور محمد العطار استشاري الهلال الأحمر القطري لطب الطوارئ إن المتدربين الملتحقين ببرنامج طب الطوارئ الممول من الهلال الأحمر القطري والذين تم إدراجهم في أقسام الطوارئ بمجمع الشفاء الطبي قد أظهروا أداء مميزاً يعكس استفادتهم العملية من التدريب، مشيراً إلى أن العمل جارٍ بالتنسيق مع المؤسسات الدولية لتوفير المزيد من الأدوية والمستلزمات الصحية لرفع جاهزية أقسام الطوارئ، خاصةً في ظل الوضع الصعب بسبب آثار العدوان.

كما يواصل الدكتور محمد كلوب استشاري الهلال الأحمر القطري لجراحة الأوعية الدموية بقطاع غزة، إجراء عمليات جراحية نوعية لإنقاذ حياة المصابين بشكل يومي في كلٍّ من مجمع ناصر الطبي ومستشفى شهداء الأقصى جنوبي القطاع، حيث نجح وطاقمه الطبي حتى الآن في إجراء 43 عملية جراحية للمصابين ومرضى الطوارئ، منها 3 حالات كبرى تضمنت عمليات في الشريان الأبهر وتفرعاته، وتركيب شريان صناعي، وعمليات في الشريان السباتي والرئوي لجرحى أصيبوا بشظايا خطيرة. وقد تكللت جميع هذه العمليات بالنجاح، وتم إنقاذ حياة الجرحى من موت محقق.

وحول أثر التدريب على أداء الأطباء المحليين، قال الدكتور كلوب: “انعكس التدريب المحلي على الطاقم الطبي بشكل لافت أثناء العدوان، حيث تمكن أحد الأطباء المتدربين من إيقاف نزيف حاد لأحد مصابي العدوان قبل وصولي للمستشفى، وهذا أمر مهم لتعزيز ثقة هؤلاء الأطباء في أنفسهم وقدرتهم على إجراء تدخلات طبية سريعة”.

وتحدث عن أبرز الاحتياجات المطلوبة في ظل العدوان، ومنها النقص في الشرايين الصناعية المطلوب توفيرها، وكذلك استنزاف مخزون الخيوط الجراحية اللازمة للعمليات، وقلة غرف العمليات المجهزة والمخصصة لجراحة الأوعية الدموية بمجمع ناصر الطبي، والتي إن توافرت ستساهم في تقليص فترات الانتظار للعمليات، خصوصاًفي أوقات الطوارئ والأزمات.

يذكر أن مشروع “دعم الجراحات التخصصية بقطاع غزة” يشمل 7 أطباء استشاريين في تخصصات جراحة القلب والصدر والأوعية الدموية والعظام والمسالك البولية والتخدير، وقد قاموا بإجراء أكثر من 106 تدخلات جراحية للجرحى منذ بداية العدوان على غزة.
