MOPH: ‘Al Majadwal’ dates found safe for consumption

Doha: The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has announced that the results of the laboratory analyses of “Al Majadwal” dates samples collected from local market are safe and comply relevant health requirements.
The Ministry had taken a number of preventive measures to assure safety and suitability of “Al Majadwal” dates available at the domestic market after receiving an international notification about the opening of an investigation in a European country concerning limited Hepatitis A infections where there is a possibility that these infections may be related to the consumption of this kind of dates . According to related notification dates were imported from Middle East and packaged locally .
Although the referred brand isn’t available at the local market, the Ministry of Public Health has taken additional precautionary measures, including investigating cases recorded in Qatar of Hepatitis. It has been found that there is no relation between those cases and the consumption of dates. It has been circulated to ports to detain any imported quantities, including non- commercial, and sent it for inspection before they are allowed into the country.

الدوحة: أعلنت وزارة الصحة العامة أن نتائج التحاليل المخبرية التي أجرتها الوزارة لعينات من تمور /المجدول/ المتواجدة في السوق المحلي أثبتت سلامتها ومطابقتها للاشتراطات الصحية ذات الصلة.
وكانت الوزارة قد اتخذت عددا من الإجراءات الوقائية للتأكد من سلامة وصلاحية تمور /المجدول/ المعروضة في السوق المحلي بعد تلقيها إخطارا دوليا حول فتح تحقيق في إحدى الدول الأوروبية يتعلق بإصابات محدودة بالتهاب الكبد الوبائي /أ/، مع احتمالية غير مؤكدة بعلاقة هذه الإصابات بتناول تمور /المجدول/ واردة من إحدى دول منطقة الشرق الأوسط ومعبأة محليا في تلك الدولة بحسب الإخطار.
وذكرت وزارة الصحة “رغم أن العلامة التجارية المشار اليها في الإخطار غير متواجدة في السوق المحلي، فقد اتخذت وزارة الصحة العامة إجراءات احترازية إضافية تضمنت التحري عن الحالات المسجلة في قطر لالتهاب الكبد الوبائي والتي تبين أن لا علاقة لها بتناول التمور، كما تم التعميم على المنافذ لحجز أي كميات واردة بما فيها الكميات غير تجارية لفحصها قبل السماح بدخولها للبلاد”.
