ADLSA Celebrates World Day for Safety and Health at Work

Doha: The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs organized a celebration on the occasion of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, in cooperation with the International Labor Organization Office in Doha and with the participation of the Building and Wood Workers’ International and a number of cooperating government agencies, representatives of economic sectors, regional organizations and specialists in the field of occupational health and safety.

The celebration, which was held via video conference technology under the title “A Shared Commitment to Safety and Health”, included two discussion sessions during which the concept of enhancing the collection and analysis of OSH data in Qatar, and practices for protecting workers and institutions from the effects of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) were discussed.

The celebration aimed to highlight the role of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs within the framework of safe practices and the provision of necessary services at work sites, in light of developments in labor market legislation in line with local and global changes and development requirements, and a reflection of what is included in Qatar National Vision 2030.

The celebration highlighted the achievements that the State of Qatar is witnessing in the field of economic and developmental growth, which requires attracting skilled workers in various fields.

Private sector institutions have succeeded in implementing occupational safety and health requirements within workplaces and workers housing, and company owners are obligated to implement the requirements of the Qatari Labor Law and to provide a healthy and professionally sound work environment.

لدوحة: نظمت وزارة التنمية الإدارية والعمل والشؤون الاجتماعية احتفالا بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للصحة والسلامة المهنية، بالتعاون مع مكتب منظمة العمل الدولية في الدوحة وبمشاركة الاتحاد الدولي لعمال البناء والأخشاب وعدد من الجهات الحكومية المتعاونة وممثلي القطاعات الاقتصادية والمنظمات الإقليمية والمختصين في مجال الصحة والسلامة المهنية.

وتضمن الاحتفال، الذي عقد عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي تحت عنوان “التزام مشترك بالسلامة والصحة”، حلقتين نقاشيتين تم التطرق خلالهما إلى مفهوم تعزيز جمع وتحليل بيانات السلامة والصحة المهنيتين في قطر، وممارسات حماية العمال والمؤسسات من الآثار الناتجة عن فيروس كورونا /كوفيد- 19/.

وهدف الاحتفال إلى إبراز الدور الذي تختص به وزارة التنمية الإدارية والعمل والشؤون الاجتماعية في إطار الممارسات الآمنة وتقديم الخدمات اللازمة في مواقع العمل، وذلك في ظل التطورات التي تشهدها تشريعات سوق العمل مواكبة للمتغيرات المحلية والعالمية ومتطلبات التنمية، وانعكاسا لما تضمنته رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030.

كما سعى الاحتفال إلى إبراز الإنجازات التي تشهدها دولة قطر في مجال النمو الاقتصادي والتنموي والذي يتطلب استقطاب العمالة الماهرة في شتى المجالات.

يذكر أن مؤسسات القطاع الخاص نجحت في تطبيق اشتراطات السلامة والصحة المهنية داخل أماكن العمل وسكن العمال، كما يلتزم أصحاب الشركات بتنفيذ الاشتراطات الخاصة بقانون العمل القطري وتوفير بيئة عمل سليمة صحيا ومهنيا.

ويتزامن الاحتفال باليوم العالمي للصحة والسلامة المهنية الذي يوافق 28 أبريل من كل عام مع الأحداث العالمية والإنجازات في مجال نظام إدارة السلامة والصحة، كأداة للتطوير المتواصل لمنع الحوادث في مواقع العمل، ويعد فرصة جيدة لعرض الانجازات المتلاحقة التي حققتها الدولة والمؤسسات المحلية في قطاع الصحة والسلامة المهنية.
