Doha: Captain Abdul Hadi Ali S. Al Marri, Officer, Media & Preventive Education Section, Ministry of Interior – Qatar Civil Defence, confirmed that kitchen fires are the most frequent reports that the administration receives during the month of Ramadan.
“During the holy month, kitchens witness severe pressure whether in the middle of the day or at night.” said Captain Al Marri and called in an interview with ‘the police with you’ program on Qatar Radio yesterday for the need to keep children away from kitchens for the sake of their lives and to make sure to close kitchens’ doors so that children won’t enter them in the absence of their family.
He also warned of the dangers of using water to put out oil fires, pointing out that this method causes increased ignition instead of putting the fire out, calling for the use of fire blankets or any wet cloth with water instead.
He also called for regular maintenance of air-conditioners to avoid short-circuit fires and being cautious to not leave electronic chargers connected to electrical current sources for long periods, as well as paying attention to the danger of coal stoves and to keep children away from them.

الدوحة: أكد النقيب عبدالهادي علي المري ضابط قسم التثقيف الوقائي بإدارة الوقاية بالإدارة العامة للدفاع المدني أن حرائق المطابخ هي أكثر البلاغات التي تتلقاها الإدارة خلال شهر رمضان.
مشيرًا إلى أن المطابخ تشهد ضغطًا شديدًا خلال الشهر الفضيل سواء في منتصف النهار أو في الليل ودعا النقيب عبدالهادي المري في حوار مع برنامج الشرطة معك على أثير إذاعة قطر أمس إلى ضرورة إبعاد الأطفال عن المطابخ حفاظًا على حياتهم والتأكد من غلق أبوابها حتى لا يدخلونها في غفلة من الأسرة.
ونبه إلى خطورة استخدام المياه في إخماد حرائق الزيوت مشيرًا إلى أنها تتسبب في زيادة اشتعالها بدلًا من إخمادها، داعيًا إلى استخدام بطانيات الحريق أو أي قطعة قماش مبللة بالماء بدلًا من ذلك.
كما دعا إلى إجراء صيانة دورية لأجهزة التكييف لتجنب حرائق الماس الكهربائي والحذر من ترك شواحن الأجهزة الإلكترونية متصلة بمصادر التيار الكهربائي لفترات طويلة وكذلك الانتباه إلى خطورة مواقد الفحم وإبعاد الأطفال عنها.
