QRCS Carries Out Warm Winter Project in Afghanistan

Kabul: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is executing its Warm Winter 2020-2021 project in Afghanistan. Its representation office there works with local partners to distribute food and nonfood aid packages to the poorest families worst hit by conflict and natural disasters in Paktika and Logar Provinces.
The purpose of the project is to help the needy families to withstand the too cold weather in their underserved areas, thus protecting their lives and preserving their dignity. Special focus is given to the vulnerable groups like patients, persons with disability, children, and women.
It added that the total cost of the project amounted to $181,756, fully funded by the QRCS.
It is noteworthy that, according to the Humanitarian Response Plan 2020 of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), about 90 percent of the population in Afghanistan suffers from poverty, and about 80 percent of them depend on unstable work sources to meet the demands of life.
In light of the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Afghanistan, the situation has worsened, the suffering of the population has exacerbated and the scarcity of their financial capabilities, as there is an urgent need to help 11.1 million people of the most needy and vulnerable in Afghanistan, which necessitates redoubling the efforts of the 161 humanitarian organizations operating there.

كابول: أعلن الهلال الأحمر القطري عن تنفيذه لمشروع /الشتاء الدافئ/ لعام 2020-2021 في أفغانستان، من خلال التعاون بين مكتبه التمثيلي والشركاء المحليين هناك لتوزيع حزم مساعدات غذائية وغير غذائية على الأسر الأشد فقراً وتأثراً بالنزاعات والكوارث الطبيعية في ولايتي /بكتيكا/ و/لوغر/.
وقال الهلال الأحمر في بيان، إن المشروع يهدف إلى المساهمة في تعزيز قدرة الأسر المحتاجة على تحمل قسوة الظروف في المناطق الأكثر احتياجاً وتضرراً من قسوة البرد القارس، بما يحفظ حياة أفرادها ويصون كرامتهم الإنسانية، مع التركيز على الفئات الضعيفة كالمرضى والمعاقين والأطفال والنساء لسد احتياجاتهم ومساعدتهم على تجاوز فصل الشتاء بسلام.
وأضاف أن التكلفة الإجمالية للمشروع بلغت 181,756 دولارا أمريكيا ممولة بالكامل من الهلال الأحمر القطري.
يذكر أنه بحسب خطة الاستجابة الإنسانية 2020 لمكتب الأمم المتحدة لتنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية /أوتشا/، فإن حوالي 90% من السكان في أفغانستان يعانون من الفقر، وحوالي 80% منهم يعتمدون على مصادر عمل غير ثابتة لمواجهة متطلبات الحياة.
وفي ظل انتشار جائحة كورونا /كوفيد-19/ في أفغانستان ازداد الوضع سوءا وتفاقمت معاناة السكان وشح إمكانياتهم المادية، إذ توجد حاجة ماسة لمساعدة 11.1 مليون شخص من الأشد حاجة وضعفاً في أفغانستان، الأمر الذي يستوجب مضاعفة جهود المنظمات الإنسانية العاملة هناك، والتي يبلغ عددها 161 منظمة إنسانية.
