Qatar Reiterates Commitment to Provide Support for Afghanistan Peace Process

Geneva: The State of Qatar reiterated its commitment to providing political support for the peace process and continuing to support negotiations and constructive dialogue between all Afghan parties to reach a political solution that guarantees an end to the war in the country, achieves national reconciliation and meets the aspirations of the brotherly Afghan people for security, stability, peace, prosperity and building a state of law and institutions.
The State of Qatar also renewed its call for the international community and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to continue providing the necessary support and technical assistance in line with the needs of the Afghan government to enhance its capabilities to face challenges, especially in light of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This came in the speech of the State of Qatar delivered by Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Mohammed Abdullah Al Buainain during the public debate at the Human Rights Council at its 46th session under the 10th item of the council’s agenda.
Al Buainain reiterated the State of Qatar’s praise of the efforts of the OHCHR, which it exerts in providing technical assistance and helping countries to build and develop their capabilities in the field of human rights, and affirmed the State’s interest in supporting the Office’s efforts to fulfill its mandate in this regard optimally.
He said that providing technical assistance and capacity-building to states in the field of human rights, according to their needs and priorities, and in consultation with them, remains the best option to support their efforts to fulfill their obligations in this regard, as substantive dialogue and constructive cooperation would lead to immediate and long-term results that contribute to the further consolidation, protection and promotion of human rights.

جنيف: جددت دولة قطر تأكيدها على مواصلة التزامها بتقديم الدعم السياسي لعملية السلام ومواصلة دعم المفاوضات والحوار البّناء بين جميع الأطراف الأفغانية للتوصل إلى حل سياسي يضمن إنهاء الحرب في البلاد وتحقيق المصالحة الوطنية ويلبي تطلعات الشعب الأفغاني الشقيق في الأمن والاستقرار والسلام والازدهار وبناء دولة القانون والمؤسسات.
كما جددت دعوتها للمجتمع الدولي والمفوضية السامية لحقوق الإنسان لمواصلة تقديم الدعم اللازم والمساعدة التقنية بما يتماشى مع احتياجات الحكومة الأفغانية لتعزيز قدراتها على مواجهة التحديات، لا سيما في ظل انتشار جائحة كورونا /كوفيد-19/.
جاء ذلك في كلمة دولة قطر التي ألقاها السيد محمد عبدالله البوعينين، سكرتير ثان بالوفد الدائم لدولة قطر لدى مكتب الأمم المتحدة بجنيف، خلال النقاش العام بمجلس حقوق الإنسان في دورته السادسة والأربعين تحت البند العاشر من جدول أعمال المجلس.
وجدد السيد محمد عبدالله البوعينين، إشادة دولة قطر بجهود مكتب المفوض السامي لحقوق الإنسان التي يبذلها في تقديم العون الفني ومساعدة الدول على بناء وتطوير قدراتها في مجال حقوق الإنسان، وأكد على اهتمام دولة قطر بدعم جهود المكتب للوفاء بولايته في هذا الصدد على النحو الأمثل.
وقال إن تقديم المساعدة التقنية وبناء القدرات للدول في مجال حقوق الإنسان وفقاً لاحتياجاتها وأولوياتها وبالتشاور معها، يظل الخيار الأمثل لدعم جهودها للوفاء بالتزاماتها في هذا الصدد، حيث إن الحوار الموضوعي والتعاون الإيجابي البناء، من شأنه أن يأتي بنتائج آنية وبعيدة المدى تسهم في مزيد من ترسيخ حقوق الإنسان وحمايتها وتعزيزها.
