CRA Announces Updating Class License for Short Range Devices

Doha: The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) published on its website a public consultation document related to the updated Class License for Short Range Devices (SRDs), with the aim of receiving the views and comments of stakeholders and interested parties on the proposed updates.

The proposed updates to the Class License are designed to keep pace with rapid technological advancements in radio-communications equipment and applications. The updates are especially related to Annexure (2), where CRA proposes the addition of new applications and frequency bands for SRDs. Also, the proposed updates introduce updates to the rules, international standards and technical specifications for the SRDs intended to be imported to Qatar as well as the corresponding authorized maximum allowed output power.

CRA ensures that advanced, innovative, and reliable information and communications technology services are provided across Qatar. Hence, it is critical that there is enough radio spectrum to keep pace with the rapidly evolving technological environment. The introduction of additional frequency ranges for SRDs is in response to numerous recent advancements in radio-communications equipment and applications. The additional frequencies will allow using and selling a greater variety of SRDs in the country, which in turn will benefit consumers and other stakeholders. The public consultation is a crucial part of this process because it allows CRA to understand and consider the needs of all stakeholders and interested parties in an organized and transparent manner.

Stakeholders and interested parties can email their views and comments about the Class License to type.approvalcra.gov.qa, before Thursday, March 11, 2021.

الدوحة: نشرت هيئة تنظيم الاتصالات على موقعها الإلكتروني وثيقة استشارة عامة حول التحديثات المقترحة على الترخيص الفئوي للأجهزة قصيرة المدى، وذلك بهدف تلقي آراء وتعليقات أصحاب المصلحة والأطراف المعنية على التحديثات المقترحة.

وبحسب بيان للهيئة الأمس ، تهدف التحديثات المقترحة على الترخيص الفئوي، إلى مواكبة التطورات التقنية المتسارعة فيما يتعلق بأجهزة الاتصالات الراديوية وتطبيقاتها، وتتعلق بشكل خاص بـ “الملحق رقم (2)” من وثيقة الاستشارة، حيث تقترح الهيئة إضافة تطبيقات تكنولوجية ونطاقات تردد جديدة للأجهزة قصيرة المدى.

كما تشتمل التحديثات المقترحة على تحديثات للمواصفات القياسية والقواعد والمعايير الدولية للأجهزة قصيرة المدى المراد استيرادها إلى دولة قطر، فضلا عن القيم المتعلقة بقدرات البث المسموح بها.

وأكدت الهيئة أنها تعمل على ضمان توفر خدمات اتصالات وتكنولوجيا معلومات متقدمة ومبتكرة وموثوق بها في جميع أنحاء الدولة، وقالت في هذا السياق إنه من الأهمية بمكان توفر مقدار كاف من الطيف الترددي لمواكبة التطورات التكنولوجية السريعة، مشيرة إلى أن استحداث نطاقات تردد إضافية للأجهزة قصيرة المدى جاء استجابة للعديد من التطورات التي طرأت مؤخرا على أجهزة الاتصالات الراديوية وتطبيقاتها.

ونوهت أن الترددات الإضافية ستسمح باستخدام وبيع مجموعة أوسع وأكثر تنوعا من الأجهزة قصيرة المدى في جميع أنحاء الدولة، وهو ما سيعود بدوره بالفائدة على المستهلكين وأصحاب المصلحة الأخرين، لافتة إلى أن الاستشارات العامة تعد جزءا أساسيا من هذه العملية، لا سيما أنها تتيح للهيئة فهم احتياجات جميع أصحاب المصلحة والأطراف المعنية، وأخذها في عين الاعتبار بطريقة منظمة وشفافة.

وأوضحت أنه يمكن لأصحاب المصلحة والأطراف المعنية، تقديم آرائهم وتعليقاتهم بشأن الترخيص الفئوي من خلال إرسالها على عنوان البريد الإلكتروني type.approval@cra.gov.qa، وذلك في موعد أقصاه يوم الخميس الموافق 11 مارس 2021.
