QRCS Activates Disaster Information Management Center

Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) activated its Disaster Information Management Center (DIMC) to monitor the recent COVID-19 developments and updates, facilitate coordination among QRCS’s departments, and joint forces with other relevant government organizations.

The activation was announced by CEO of QRCS Eng. Ibrahim Abdullah Al Malki, in the presence of Executive Director of Relief and International Development Division Faisal Mohamed Al Emadi, and Executive Director of Medical Affairs Division Abdullah Sultan Al Qatan.

During the meeting, they discussed the preparations for any tasks to be assigned by the health authorities, as well as strict enforcement of preventive measures for the coming period, in order to prevent the spread of the disease, under the supervision of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management.

Apart from its development and community service activities at normal times, QRCS is mandated to intervene in and respond to disasters, in its legal capacity as an auxiliary to the State of Qatar in its humanitarian and social efforts. As a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, QRCS capitalizes on extensive experience and rich technical and human resources in the fields of disaster preparedness and response.

Since the beginning of COVID-19, QRCS has been working hard to control the pandemic, undertaking multifaceted medical, volunteering, and social roles. These include, but are not limited to, the operation of quarantine facilities, supervision of preventive measures at public places, street disinfection, distribution of protective supplies to the public, and provision of food and cash aid for the affected families. As a result of these successive achievements, QRCS qualified as one of 10 Qatari organizations that proved most supportive in dealing with COVID-19, according to a poll-based assessment done in May 2020 by Ipsos, a multinational research agency.

الدوحة: أعلن الهلال الأحمر القطري عن تفعيله لغرفة عمليات الطوارئ في مركز إدارة الكوارث التابع له، من أجل متابعة مستجدات جائحة فيروس كورونا (كوفيد-19) وتطوراتها الأخيرة، وتنسيق العمل ما بين قطاعات المؤسسة المختلفة، وتكامل الجهود مع باقي مؤسسات الدولة المعنية بمواجهة الجائحة.

حضر اجتماع تفعيل غرفة عمليات الطوارئ كل من المهندس إبراهيم عبدالله المالكي المدير التنفيذي للهلال الأحمر القطري، والسيد فيصل محمد العمادي المدير التنفيذي لقطاع الإغاثة والتنمية الدولية، والسيد عبدالله القطان المدير التنفيذي لقطاع الشؤون الطبية.

وناقش الاجتماع استعدادات الهلال الأحمر القطري لتنفيذ أي مهام تكلفه بها السلطات الصحية بالدولة، بالإضافة إلى تشديد الإجراءات الاحترازية خلال المرحلة المقبلة، للمساعدة على احتواء المرض والحيلولة دون انتشاره، تحت إشراف اللجنة العليا لإدارة الأزمات.

وإلى جانب الأنشطة التنموية والمجتمعية التي يقوم بها في أوقات السلم، يختص الهلال الأحمر القطري بالتدخل والاستجابة لحالات الكوارث، بالنظر إلى صفته القانونية كمساند للدولة في جهودها الإنسانية والاجتماعية، وبصفته ممثلا لدولة قطر ضمن الحركة الدولية للصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر، وأيضا بفضل ما يتمتع به من خبرات طويلة وإمكانيات فنية وبشرية في مجال التأهب والاستجابة للكوارث.

يذكر أنه منذ بدء جائحة (كوفيد-19)، ساهم الهلال الأحمر القطري بشكل كبير في مكافحة الوباء من خلال الاضطلاع بعدة أدوار طبية وتطوعية واجتماعية، ومنها (على سبيل المثال لا الحصر) إدارة وتشغيل مراكز الحجر الصحي، ومراقبة تطبيق الإجراءات الاحترازية في الأماكن العامة، وتعقيم الشوارع، وتوزيع الأدوات الوقائية على الجمهور، وغير ذلك الكثير من المساعدات والخدمات التي وضعت الهلال الأحمر القطري على رأس 10 مؤسسات قطرية الأكثر تأثيرا في مواجهة جائحة (كوفيد-19)، طبقا للتقييم الذي أجرته شركة “إبسوس” العالمية من خلال استطلاعات الرأي في شهر مايو الماضي.
