IATA: Vaccine distribution will be easier now after reopening the skies with Qatar

Doha: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) welcomed the signing of Al Ula statement “Solidarity and Stability” during the meeting of the 41st session of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf “Summit of Sultan Qaboos and Sheikh Sabah”, which witnessed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt reopening their airspace, land and sea borders with the State of Qatar.

Muhammed Ali Al-Bakri, Vice President of the International Air Transport Association in Africa and the Middle East said: “The reopening of airspace with the State of Qatar by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt is good news for travelers and the air transport sector, especially During these critical times, as the direct route of flights will contribute to facilitating the transfer and distribution of the Coronavirus vaccine globally, given the importance of the strategic location of the region and the airspace linking continents.

“This agreement will contribute to operating direct routes between these countries, which will save travelers a lot of time, as previous flights have seen an increase in the original flight time from 40 minutes to more than 5 hours in some cases. In addition, direct routes will help reduce operational costs on Airlines, which contributes to helping them face the challenges resulting from the Coronavirus”. Al-Bakri added.

Al-Bakri continued: “We are looking forward to opening up airspace among the most important markets in the aviation industry regionally and globally, which in turn will pave the way for the establishment of safe travel routs free of quarantine requirements between these countries, which will allow families and friends throughout the region to reconnect easily.”

The International Association said in a statement yesterday, Friday: “This agreement paves the way for airlines to resume regional and global air connectivity, which reduces flight times, reduces operational costs for airlines, and provides essential air links that support the tourism and travel industry throughout the region.

الدوحة: رحب الإتحاد الدولي للنقل الجوي (إياتا) بتوقيع بيان العلا “التضامن والاستقرار”  خلال اجتماع الدورة 41 للمجلس الأعلى لمجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية “قمة السلطان قابوس والشيخ صباح” ، والتي شهدت قيام المملكة العربية السعودية، مملكة البحرين، الإمارات العربية المتحدة وجمهورية مصر العربية بإعادة فتح الحدود الجوية والبرية والبحرية مع دولة قطر.

وقال محمد علي البكري، نائب رئيس الاتحاد الدولي للنقل الجوي في إقليم إفريقيا والشرق الأوسط: “إن إعادة فتح المجال الجوي مع دولة قطر من قبل المملكة العربية السعودية، مملكة البحرين والإمارات العربية المتحدة وجمهورية مصر العربية خبر سار بالنسبة للمسافرين و لقطاع النقل الجوي ،خاصةً خلال هذه الأوقات الحرجة، حيث سيسهم المسار المباشر للرحلات الجوية بتسهيل عملية نقل وتوزيع لقاح كورونا عالمياً، نظراً لأهمية الموقع الاستراتيجي للمنطقة والمجال الجوي الرابط للقارات”.

أضاف البكري: “ستسهم هذه الاتفاقية بتشغيل مسارات مباشرة بين هذه الدول مما سيوفر وقت كبير على المسافرين حيث شهدت الرحلات السابقة  زيادة على الوقت الأصلي للرحلة  من 40 دقيقة لأكثر من 5 ساعات في بعض الحالات. إضافة الى ذلك ، ستساعد المسارات المباشرة بتخفيض التكلفة التشغيلية على شركات الطيران ، ما يسهم في مساعدتهم في مواجهة التحديات الناتجة عن فيروس كورونا”. 

وقال البكري: “نتطلع الى فتح المجال الجوي بين أهم الأسواق في صناعة الطيران إقليمياً وعالمياً والتي ستمهد بدورها لإنشاء ممرات سفر آمنة خالية من متطلبات الحجر الصحي بين هذه الدول والتي ستسمح للعائلات والأصدقاء في جميع أنحاء المنطقة بإعادة الإتصال بشكل أسهل”.

وذكر الاتحاد الدولي  في بيان له يوم الجمعة : “تمهد هذه الاتفاقية الطريق أمام شركات الطيران لاستئناف الربط الجوي الإقليمي والعالمي الذي يقلص أوقات الرحلات ويخفض التكلفة التشغيلية على شركات الطيران ويوفر روابط جوية اساسية تدعم صناعة السياحة والسفر في جميع أنحاء المنطقة”.
