MOPH refutes rumors about Pfizer vaccine and its effectiveness against the new strain, reveals when life will return to normalcy

Doha: Dr. Soha Al-Bayat, Head of the Immunization Department at the Ministry of Public Health, responded to the widespread rumors about the work of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine against Coronavirus regarding changing the genes of the recipient’s body, confirming that this is not true, and it is impossible for the vaccination to arrive in terms of the technology used in its manufacture to change the genes of the human body.

Regarding complications and side effects, Al Bayat said – in statements to the “Etijahat” program on Qatar Radio, Tuesday evening- “The clinical results announced by Pfizer for the effectiveness of the vaccine at 95% mean that among 43,000 people who participated in the third clinical phase and received the vaccine, 95% of them were able to form antibodies that protect them from infection, which is a very high rate, in addition to the fact that complications and side effects due to getting the vaccine are known, and they are the same symptoms that occur with any previous vaccination, all of which are reassuring matters.

Life returning to normalcy

On the return to normal life in Qatar after receiving the vaccine, the head of the vaccination department at the ministry said that the vaccine will reach a number of stages after Qatar has concluded several agreements with a number of companies to obtain a sufficient amount of vaccination that is sufficient for all citizens and residents of the State of Qatar. We hope life will return to normalcy by the summer of 2021.

She added: The goal of vaccination is to break the cycle of infection, meaning that a sufficient number of people are vaccinated and have a sufficient number of antibodies and have immunity in order to break this cycle and before this time we must adhere to the precautionary measures.

And she stressed that the combined efforts of all parties from the ministries of health, interior, education and the media have led to control and awareness raising, in addition to the community awareness, the number of examinations and early detection of cases, we have reached the flat curve in infections, and if we continue to adhere, and a sufficient number of citizens and residents get vaccinated, we will see the curve flattening and infections limited to a small percentage of people.

Regarding the new strain in Britain, she said that it is not more dangerous than the strain known to us, but rather it is faster in infection, it is capable of infecting from a lesser distance, but in terms of symptoms it is not stronger. explaining that the new strain is not a new thing and viruses changing forms is not an issue. The difference here is that the change came faster than usual.

She emphasized that vaccination – according to the producing companies and according to the initial results – can protect against the new strain, and in the coming days we will know more regarding that the vaccination covers the new strain.

الدوحة: ردت الدكتورة سهى البيات رئيس قسم التطعيمات بوزارة الصحة العامة على الشائعات المنتشرة حول عمل لقاح فايزر/ بينوتيك ضد كورونا على تغيير جينات جسم متلقيه، مؤكدة أن هذا الكلام غير صحيح، ومن المستحيل أن يصل التطعيم من ناحية التقنية المستخدمة في صناعته لتغيير جينات جسم الإنسان .

وبشأن المضاعفات والأعراض الجانبية ، قالت البيات – في تصريحات لبرنامج “اتجاهات” على إذاعة قطر مساء يوم الثلاثاء – “النتائج السريرية التي أعلنت عنها شركة فايزر عن فعالية اللقاح بنسبة 95% تعني أن بين 43 ألف شخص شاركوا في المرحلة الثالثة السريرية وحصلوا على اللقاح، استطاع 95 % منهم تكوين أجسام مضادة تحميهم من العدوى وهي نسبة عالية جداً، بالإضافة إلى أن المضاعفات والأعراض الجانبية جراء الحصول على اللقاح متعارف عليها، وهي نفس الأعراض التي تحدث مع أي تطعيم سابق، وكلها أمور مطمئنة.

عودة الحياة لطبيعتها

وحول عودة الحياة إلى طبيعتها في قطر بعد تلقي اللقاح، قالت رئيس قسم التطعيمات بالوزارة إن اللقاح سيصل على عدد من المراحل بعد عقد قطر لعدة اتفاقيات مع عدد من الشركات للحصول على كمية كافية من التطعيم تكفي لجميع المواطنين والمقيمين من دولة قطر .. ونأمل على صيف 2021 أن تعود الحياة إلى طبيعتها.

وأضافت: الهدف من التطعيم أن نكسر دائرة العدوى أي أن عددا كافيا من الناس يتم تطعيمهم ولديهم عدد كاف من الأجسام المضادة ولديهم مناعة لكي نكسر هذه الدائرة وقبل هذا الوقت يجب أن نلتزم بالإجراءات الاحترازية .

وشددت على أن تكاتف جهود جميع الجهات من وزارات الصحة والداخلية والتعليم ووسائل الإعلام أدى إلى السيطرة وزيادة الوعي بالإضافة إلى أن وعي المجتمع وكمية الفحوصات واكتشاف الحالات مبكرا فقد وصلنا إلى المنحنى المستوي في الإصبات، وإذا استمرينا بالالتزام وحصل عدد كاف من المواطنين والمقيمين على التطعيم سنرى المنحنى في النزول وإصابة  عدد بسيط جدا من الأشخاص.

وبشأن السلالة الجديدة في بريطانيا، قالت إنها  ليست أشد خطورة من السلالة المعروفة لدينا وإنما هي أسرع في العدوى، فهي قادرة على العدوى من مسافة أقل لكن من ناحية الأعراض فهي ليست أقوى .. موضحة أن السلالة الجديدة ليست شيئا جديداً وتغيير السلالات في الفيروسات ليس أمراً جديدا والفرق هنا هو أن التغيير جاء بطريقة أسرع من المعتاد .

وأكدت أن التطعيم – حسب الشركات المنتجة وحسب النتائج الأولية – يستطيع الحماية من السلالة الجديدة ومع الأيام سنعرف أكثر التطعيم يغطي السلالة الجديدة .
