MOI clarifies the circumstances of the stopping of two Bahraini boats in Qatari waters

Doha: The Ministry of Interior clarified the circumstances of the stopping of two Bahraini boats in Qatari waters Yesterday, Wednesday.

MOI said, on its Twitter account, that as part of its normal activities and tasks inside the Qatari waters, the patrols of the General Administration of Coastal and Border Security stopped two Bahraini boats this afternoon after they were spotted inside the Qatari waters (5.25 nautical miles) northwest of Fasht Al-Dibal without prior notice.

MOI added: Accordingly, the concerned authorities of the General Administration of Coastal and Border Security contacted the Operations Room in the Bahrain in order to obtain a justification from it for the reason of the presence of the two boats in Qatari waters. while the contact was not established, they had to inquire the captain of the boat that was stopped for which he said: that they lost contact with their leadership and that their communications broke down while they were doing an exercise inside the Bahraini waters, causing them to lose their way back to their site.

It indicated that the commander of the Bahraini boat had submitted a request to the coast and border security patrols to allow him and the accompanying boat to return to his area, so coordination was made again with the operations room in the Bahrain and they were allowed to leave the area.

It said: It should be noted that the site for monitoring the two Bahraini boats was opposite to the site of the exercise that was previously announced.

الدوحة: أوضحت وزارة الداخلية ملابسات إيقاف زورقين تابعين للبحرين في المياه القطرية يوم أمس الأربعاء.

وقالت عبر حسابها بموقع تويتر إنه في إطار ممارستها لأعمالها ومهامها الاعتيادية داخل المياه القطرية استوقفت دوريات الإدارة العامة لأمن السواحل والحدود ظهر اليوم زورقين بحرينيين وذلك بعد رصدهما داخل المياه القطرية (5.25 ميل بحري) شمال غرب فشت الديبل دون إخطار مسبق.

وأضافت: بناء عليه قامت الجهات المعنية بالإدارة العامة لأمن السواحل والحدود بالتواصل مع غرفة العمليات بمملكة البحرين من أجل الحصول على تبرير منها لسبب وجود الزورقين في المياه القطرية وبتعذر ذلك تم الاستفسار من قائد الزورق الذي تم استيقافه حيث أفاد أنه فقد الاتصال مع قيادته وأن أجهزته قد تعطلت أثناء قيامهم بتمرين داخل حدود المياه البحرينية مما تسبب في فقدانه لطريق العودة إلى موقعه.

وأشارت إلى أنه قد تقدم قائد الزورق البحريني بطلب إلى دوريات أمن السواحل والحدود القطرية للسماح له وللزورق المرافق له بالعودة إلى منطقته فتم التنسيق مرة أخرى مع غرفة العمليات بمملكة البحرين وتم السماح لهما بمغادرة المنطقة.

وقالت: مما يجدر ذكره أن موقع رصد الزورقين البحرينيين كان معاكساً لموقع التمرين المقام الذي تم الإعلان عنه مسبقاً.
