MoI acts against several persons for ‘stirring up tribal strife’ on social media

Doha: Qatar’s Ministry of the Interior has referred several people to the Public Prosecution for “stirring up tribal strife” and frequently using “racist vocabulary” on social media.

The action comes after competent authority monitored their social media activities.

The ministry said the action against the individuals is in accordance with the provisions of the laws in force.

“The Ministry of the Interior affirms here that it will take all legal measures against anyone who adopts a racist discourse against the unity and interdependence of the Qatari society, and threatening its security, stability and social peace,” it said on Twitter.

The ministry called on users of social media platforms in Qatar to abide by the country’s laws, and not to offend any community within the society on tribal or racial grounds. It reminded the public that the cohesion and stability of the Qatari society was a responsibility of everyone.

الدوحة: قالت وزارة الداخلية إنه بالاشارة لما رصدته الوزارة من قيام عدد من الأشخاص، في وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، من إثارة للنعرات القبلية بين أبناء المجتمع الواحد واستخدام متكرر لمفردات عنصرية ، فقد قامت الجهات المختصة برصدهم وضبطهم.

وأضافت الوزارة في سلسلة تغريدات على تويتر أنه جاري احالتهم للنيابة العامة لاتخاذ اجراءاتها في مواجهتهم، وفقاً لأحكام القوانين المعمول بها، وتؤكد وزارة الداخلية هنا على أنها لن تتهاون في اتخاذ كافة الاجراءات القانونية ضد كل من يتبنى خطابا عنصريا للمساس بوحدة المجتمع القطري وترابطه، وتهديد أمنه واستقراره وسلمه الاجتماعي.

وأهابت وزارة الداخلية بمستخدمي منصات التواصل الاجتماعي في دولة قطر الالتزام بالقوانين، وعدم الإساءة لأي مكون داخل المجتمع على أسس قبلية أو عنصرية، من منطلق أن ترابط المجتمع القطري واستقراره هو مسؤولية تقع على عاتق الجميع.
