Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee meeting begins in Istanbul

Istanbul: The preparatory ministerial meeting for the sixth session of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee took place in Istanbul on Thursday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani represented Qatar, while Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu represented Turkey in the meeting.
Sheikh Mohammed expressed his graduate to the government and people of Turkey for the reception and preparation for the meeting.
He renewed the condolences of Qatar’s Amir, government, and people on the victims of the earthquake that took place in Izmir and wished the injured a speedy recovery. Sheikh Mohammed stressed Qatar’s support of Turkey in alleviating the impact of the disaster.
He noted that the strengthening of bilateral ties to the level of a complementary partnership under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
His Excellency said he looked forward to a meeting that would enhance the strategic bilateral relations, which have grown over many decades, even further to strengthen the complimentary partnership in all fields whether in security, politics, military, investment, development, and culture among other fields.
Sheikh Mohammed praised the outcomes of the fifth session of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee that took place in Doha last November. His Excellency also praised the outcomes of the meetings held through video conference technology between the two sides’ ranking officials in October.
Sheikh Mohammed stressed Qatar’s plans to move forward with efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation further, in light of the SWAP and the economic and commerce agreements that were signed, in addition to other agreements and memoranda of understanding that will be signed during the supreme joint committee meeting that set to take place in Istanbul on Nov. 26.
He noted that bilateral trade ties were constantly growing, indicated by a bilateral trade volume that reached $2.15 billion in 2019. His Excellency said that establishing a Turkish free economic zone in the State of Qatar will enhance ties further and create a platform for the Turkish investor to access markets in India, Asia, and Africa.
He added that the security and political challenges that the Middle-East and the world face, require constant consultation to face those challenges, expressing satisfaction with the agreement between the two sides on regional and international issues, and stressing that they will continue to support regional and international efforts to establish international peace and security, counter-terrorism, and resolve conflicts peacefully.

انطاليا: افتتحت أمس الأول أعمال الاجتماع الوزاري التحضيري للدورة السادسة للجنة الاستراتيجية العليا بين دولة قطر والجمهورية التركية في مدينة “أنطاليا” التركية.
مثّل دولة قطر في الاجتماع، سعادة الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن آل ثاني نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية، فيما مثّل الجمهورية التركية، سعادة السيد مولود جاويش أوغلو وزير الخارجية.
وأعرب نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية، في كلمته عن خالص الشكر وعميق الامتنان لحكومة وشعب تركيا الشقيقة على حفاوة الاستقبال وكرم الضيافة والإعداد المتميز لعقد هذا الاجتماع.
وجدّد سعادته تعازي دولة قطر أميرا وحكومة وشعبا في ضحايا الزلزال الذي وقع في ولاية “أزمير”، سائلا المولى عز وجل أن يتغمد المتوفين برحمته، وأن يمن بالشفاء العاجل على المصابين، مؤكدا وقوف دولة قطر مع جمهورية تركيا الشقيقة للتخفيف من آثار هذه الكارثة.
أضاف سعادته “يأتي اجتماعنا اليوم وقد ارتقت العلاقات بين بلدينا الشقيقين في المجالات كافة إلى مستويات الشراكة التكاملية المنشودة بفضل الرعاية الكريمة لسيدي حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى “حفظه الله”، وفخامة الرئيس رجب طيب أردوغان رئيس جمهورية تركيا الشقيقة”.
وعبّر عن تطلعه إلى أن يسهم هذا الاجتماع في تعزيز الروابط الأخوية الوطيدة والعلاقات الاستراتيجية التي تنامت وتجذرت على مدى عقود طويلة من الزمن بين البلدين والشعبين الشقيقين لترسيخ الشراكة التكاملية في مختلف المجالات الأمنية والسياسية والعسكرية والاقتصادية والاستثمارية والتنموية والثقافية وغيرها لتحقيق المصالح المشتركة لبلدينا وشعبينا.
وتابع سعادة الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن “وفي هذا الإطار نثمن مخرجات الدورة الخامسة للجنة الوزارية التي عقدت في الدوحة في نوفمبر الماضي، كما نشيد بمخرجات نتائج اجتماعات كبار المسؤولين التي عقدت عبر الاتصال المرئي في أكتوبر الماضي”.
وأكد سعادته عزم دولة قطر على تعزيز وتطوير آليات التعاون المثمر واستشراف آفاق جديدة وتنمية وتوسيع علاقات التعاون الاستراتيجي بين البلدين في ظل الاتفاقيات ومذكرات التفاهم الموقعة بينهما لا سيما اتفاقية “SWAP” واتفاقية الشراكة الاقتصادية والتجارية التي تم التوقيع عليها بالأحرف الأولى، بالإضافة إلى ما سيتم توقيعه من اتفاقيات ومذكرات تفاهم خلال اجتماع اللجنة المشتركة العليا المقرر في 26 من شهر نوفمبر الجاري في إسطنبول.
ولفت إلى أن العلاقات التجارية بين قطر وتركيا تشهد تطورا مستمرا، مشيرا إلى زيادة حجم التبادل التجاري بين البلدين والذي بلغ 2.15 مليار دولار عام 2019، وقال “لا شك أن مقترح إنشاء المنطقة التركية الاقتصادية الحرة في دولة قطر سوف يعزز هذه العلاقات ويخلق منصة خاصة للمستثمر التركي للوصول إلى أسواق الهند وآسيا وإفريقيا”.
وأضاف نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية “في المجال السياسي فإن التحديات الأمنية والسياسية وغيرها التي تشهدها منطقة الشرق الأوسط والعالم تستدعي منا استمرار وتعزيز التنسيق والتشاور في مواجهة هذه التحديات”، وقال “نعرب عن ارتياحنا لتطابق الرؤى بين بلدينا حول القضايا الدولية والإقليمية، ونؤكد على استمرار مشاركتنا الفاعلة في الجهود الدولية والإقليمية لإرساء الأمن والاستقرار الدوليين ومكافحة الإرهاب وفض النزاعات بالطرق السلمية”.
