Al-Raya, Al-Sharq Affirm Qatar’s Support for Sudanese People’s Aspirations to Achieve Stability and Prosperity

Doha: Qatari newspaper Al-Raya and Al-Sharq affirmed in their editorials on Wednesday the State of Qatar’s keenness on supporting Sudan’s interest and the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people in achieving economic stability, progress and prosperity.

In this regard, the newspaper noted that the State of Qatar’s welcome of US President Donald Trump’s announcement of his intention to remove Sudan from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism emphasized its firm stances in support of Sudan’s efforts to be removed from this list, which constituted an obstacle to the brotherly Sudanese people.

In its editorial today, Al-Raya said that Trump’s announcement of his intention to remove Sudan from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism will contribute to supporting the democratic transition process in Sudan.

The paper pointed out that Doha looks forward to the completion of the procedures to remove Sudan from the US list as soon as possible, so that the Sudanese people can devote themselves to building their state, preserving the peace gains and laying the foundations for democracy and development, after decades of suffering from the ravages of wars, turmoil, political problems and sanctions that affected its people and destroyed its economy.

The newspaper stressed that Qatar supports Sudan’s interest and every step that would bring good and peace to it, noting that Qatar recently participated in the final signing ceremony between the transitional government of Sudan and the Sudanese armed movements, which was held in Juba, the capital of South Sudan.

The paper noted that the State of Qatar sponsored a similar experience represented in Darfur Peace Agreement, which brought together all stakeholders in May, 2011 between the government of Sudan and the armed movements, after a long and arduous period of negotiation with all parties related to the conflict in Darfur.

The daily called on the major countries to support the democratic transition in Sudan, and said that the Sudanese have decided to pursue a “zero problems policy” so that they can achieve their development, adding that the international community must provide support to Sudan and to the peace agreements between Khartoum and armed factions in order to lay down their arms and join the political process, the army and official security forces.

In conclusion, Al-Raya said that Sudan’s integration into the global economy and the maximum benefit from the efforts of friends and brothers in support of Sudan will pave the way for a big breakthrough for all Sudan’s agenda in regional and international forums, as the Sudanese have decided to look to the bright future with the support of the international community. 

For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted in its editorial the State of Qatar’s welcome of the US President Donald Trump’s announcement of his intention to remove Sudan from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, referring to the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday, which affirmed Qatar’s firm stances in support of Sudan’s efforts to be removed from this list, which constituted an obstacle to the brotherly Sudanese people.

The newspaper said that in September 2019, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in his speech during the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, called on the US administration to remove Sudan from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, reaffirming Qatar’s commitment to standing with the brotherly Sudanese people and calling on all regional and international powers to support Sudan to achieve the aspirations of its people for security, stability and development.

On the sidelines of those meetings, HH the Amir met with the Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and discussed with him ways to support and strengthen relations between the two countries, the paper said, adding that His Highness’s directives were always present to support Sudan and the aspirations of its brotherly people in achieving economic stability, progress and prosperity.

Al-Sharq affirmed that Qatari diplomacy will always support Sudan in all international forums, and calls for continuing to remove all restrictions that hinder Sudan’s efforts to enhance the well-being of its people and to complete the lifting of all economic sanctions and remove Sudan from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.

In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that the brotherly Sudanese people deserve to enjoy sustainable peace, stability and development, noting that Qatar looks forward that the completion of the procedures to remove Sudan from the US list will contribute to supporting the democratic transition process.

الدوحة: أكدت صحيفتا /الراية/ و/ الشرق/ في افتتاحيتيهما اليوم، حرص دولة قطر على مصلحة السودان ودعم الدوحة لتطلعات الشعب السوداني الشقيق في تحقيق الاستقرار الاقتصادي والتقدم والازدهار.

و شددتا على أن ترحيب دولة قطر بإعلان الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب اعتزامه رفع اسم السودان من قائمة الدول الراعية للإرهاب، جاء تأكيدا لمواقفها الأصيلة والثابتة في دعم جهود السودان الرامية لحذفه من هذه القائمة التي شكلت عقبة أمام الشعب السوداني الشقيق.

وقالت الراية في تعليقها، إن الترحيب القطري بإعلان الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب اعتزامه رفع اسم السودان من قائمة الدول الراعية للإرهاب، يؤكد حرص قطر على مصلحة السودان ودعم الدوحة لتطلعات الشعب السوداني الشقيق في تحقيق الاستقرار الاقتصادي والتقدم والازدهار، واعتبرت أن من شأن هذه الخطوة المرجوة أن تسهم في دعم عملية الانتقال الديمقراطي في السودان.

وأضافت، “أن الدوحة تتطلع إلى استكمال إجراءات حذف السودان من القائمة الأمريكية عاجلا، ليتفرغ السودانيون لبناء دولتهم والمحافظة على مكتسبات السلام والشروع في إرساء قواعد الديمقراطية والتنمية والتشاركية، فالسودان الشقيق عانى على مدى عقود من ويلات الحروب والاضطرابات والمشاكل السياسية والعقوبات التي خنقته ودمرت اقتصاده وجعلته تحت وطأة عقاب جماعي أثر على شعبه وتسبب له بأزمات كبيرة، فالسودان الجديد قرر التخلص من كل مشاكله والتصالح مع مكونات شعبه دون إقصاء لأي طرف”.

وأكدت الصحيفة على وقوف قطر مع المصلحة السودانية ورأت أن قطر كانت داعمة لكل خطوة من شأنها إحلال الخير والسلام للسودان الشقيق، مشيرة إلى مشاركة قطر مؤخرا في حفل التوقيع النهائي لاتفاقية السلام بين حكومة السودان الانتقالية، وحركات الكفاح المسلح السودانية، الذي أقيم بعاصمة جنوب السودان /جوبا/، وقالت إن قطر ليست بغريبة عن السودان وأهله فهي دعمت على مدى سنين طويلة أمن واستقرار السودان ووحدة أراضيه، حيث رعت تجربة مماثلة تمثلت في اتفاقية الدوحة لسلام دارفور التي جمعت كل أصحاب المصلحة في مايو من العام 2011، بين حكومة السودان والحركات المسلحة، بعد فترة طويلة وشاقة من التفاوض مع كل الأطراف ذات الصلة بالصراع في دارفور.

وطالبت الصحيفة الدول الكبرى بدعم الانتقال الديمقراطي في السودان الذي من شأنه أن يبني سودان الغد الذي يتسع للجميع، وقالت إن السودانيين قرروا انتهاج “سياسة صفر مشاكل” حتى يتفرغوا لأنفسهم وتحقيق تنميتهم وهذا لا يمكن للسودانيين أنفسهم أن يقوموا به وحدهم، بل على المجتمع الدولي تقديم الدعم والمساعدة لإتمام المصالحة الداخلية، ودعم اتفاقات السلام بين الخرطوم وباقي الفصائل المسلحة من أجل وضع السلاح والتحاق تلك الفصائل بالعملية السياسية وإدماج المسلحين بالجيش والقوات الأمنية الرسمية.

وخلصت إلى القول “إن اندماج السودان في الاقتصاد العالمي والاستفادة القصوى من مجهودات الأصدقاء والأشقاء الداعمة للسودان حيث ستمهد الخطوة لانفراج كبير لكافة أجندة السودان في المحافل الإقليمية والدولية، فالسودانيون قرروا القطع مع الماضي والنظر إلى المستقبل المشرق وذلك بدعم وتكاتف السودانيين أنفسهم ومن ورائهم المجتمع الدولي”.

من جهتها أبرزت صحيفة /الشرق/ في افتتاحيتها ترحيب دولة قطر بإعلان الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب اعتزامه رفع اسم السودان من قائمة الدول الراعية للإرهاب، وذلك في البيان الذي أصدرته وزارة الخارجية /أمس/ والذي جاء تأكيدا لمواقفها الأصيلة والثابتة في دعم جهود السودان الرامية لحذفه من هذه القائمة التي شكلت عقبة أمام الشعب السوداني الشقيق.

وقالت الصحيفة: “في سبتمبر 2019، دعا حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني، أمير البلاد المفدى، حفظه الله، في خطابه خلال الدورة 74 لاجتماع الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، الإدارة الأمريكية إلى شطب اسم السودان من قائمة الدول الراعية للإرهاب، مجددا الالتزام بالوقوف بجانب الشعب السوداني الشقيق، وداعيا كافة القوى الإقليمية والدولية إلى دعم السودان لتحقيق تطلعات شعبه في الأمن والاستقرار والتنمية، كما استقبل سمو الأمير على هامش تلك الاجتماعات رئيس الوزراء السوداني، عبدالله حمدوك، وبحث معه سبل دعم وتعزيز العلاقات بين البلدين. وكانت توجيهات صاحب السمو حاضرة دائما لدعم السودان وتطلعات شعبه الشقيق في تحقيق الاستقرار الاقتصادي والتقدم والازدهار”.

وأكدت /الشرق/ أن الدبلوماسية القطرية ستظل دائما إلى جانب السودان في كافة المحافل الدولية، وداعية بالاستمرار إلى إزالة جميع القيود التي من شأنها أن تعوق قدرة السودان على المضي قدما في جهوده لتعزيز الرفاه لشعبه، واستكمال رفع جميع العقوبات الاقتصادية وإزالة اسم السودان من قائمة الدول الراعية للإرهاب.

وخلصت في الختام إلى القول: “إن الشعب السوداني الشقيق يستحق أن ينعم بالسلام المستدام والاستقرار والتنمية.. وقطر من جانبها، تتطلع إلى أن يسهم استكمال إجراءات حذف السودان من القائمة الأمريكية، في دعم عملية الانتقال الديمقراطي”.
