Ehsan to Mark International Day for Older Persons

Doha: The Elderly Empowerment and Care Center (Ehsan), affiliated with Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW), will celebrated Thursday the International Day for Older Persons, which falls on October 1 each year.
The celebration is in line with the mission of Qatar Foundation for Social Work and the strategy of Ehsan which aims to empower the elderly, benefit from their experiences in the State of Qatar, and integrate them into society.
The United Nations observance of the International Day of Older Persons 2020 will highlight the role of the health care workforce in contributing to the health of older persons, with special recognition of the nursing profession, and a primary focus on the role of women, who are relatively undervalued and in most cases inadequately compensated, and will also promote the Decade of Healthy Ageing (2020-2030).
Commenting on the occasion, Director of Awareness and Community Communication Department at Ehsan Khalid Abdullah said that the Center is marking this occasion by launching a number of awareness activities from October 1 to 7, most importantly the cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs to dedicate the next Friday sermons to talk about the respect for the elderly.
The live broadcast feature will also be activated on Ehsan’s “Instagram” account on the occasion. The first episode of the live broadcast will be with Nasra Al Noubi, the first Qatari nurse – currently retired – to talk about her journey in the nursing profession, he added.

الدوحة: يحتفل مركز تمكين ورعاية كبار السن /إحسان/، أحد المراكز المنضوية تحت مظلة المؤسسة القطرية للعمل الاجتماعي، اليوم الخميس باليوم العالمي لكبار السن الذي يصادف الأول من أكتوبر كل عام.
ويأتي الاحتفال بهذا اليوم اتساقا مع رسالة المؤسسة القطرية للعمل الاجتماعي، ووفقا لاستراتيجية /إحسان/ التي تهدف إلى تمكين كبار السن والاستفادة من خبراتهم في دولة قطر، والعمل على تمكينهم ودمجهم بالمجتمع.
ويسلط احتفال الأمم المتحدة باليوم العالمي لكبار السن هذا العام الضوء على دور القوى العاملة في مجال الرعاية الصحية والمساهمة في صحة كبار السن، مع الاعتراف بشكل خاص بمهنة التمريض، والتركيز بشكل أساسي على دور النساء – اللواتي يتم التقليل من قيمتهن نسبيا -، وتعزيز الشيخوخة الصحية.
وبهذه المناسبة، صرح السيد خالد عبدالله مدير إدارة التوعية والتواصل المجتمعي بمركز /إحسان/، قائلا إن المركز يحتفل بهذه المناسبة بإطلاق عدد من الفعاليات التوعوية خلال الفترة من الأول وحتى السابع من أكتوبر، أهمها التعاون مع وزارة الأوقاف والشؤون الإسلامية لتخصيص خطبة الجمعة، بعد غد، للحديث عن “احترام وتوقير كبار السن”.
وأضاف أنه بهذه المناسبة سيتم تفعيل خاصية البث المباشر على منصة التواصل الاجتماعي “الانستغرام” الخاصة بمركز /إحسان/، حيث ستكون أولى حلقات البث المباشر مع السيدة نصرة النوبي أول ممرضة قطرية – متقاعدة حاليا -، للحديث عن مسيرة عطائها في مهنة التمريض.
