Qatar; most expensive coffee regionally at $6.79 a cup

Doha: Ladders revealed that Qatar is the region’s most expensive country in coffee prices, noting that coffee shops in Doha charge about $6.79 per cup, while Iran offers the cheapest coffee price in the region (about $0.46).

Qatar tops a list of 5 countries in the Middle East which are: Kuwait, Lebanon, UAE and Saudi Arabia, among the top 10 most expensive places to drink coffee in the world, however, the two neighbors of Turkey and Iran are among the cheapest in the world in the price of coffee, the U.S. website said.

In its report, the website notes that coffee is a traditional symbol of friendship and hospitality among the countries of the region, adding: In the Arabian Gulf states, hot Arabic coffee is served with luxury dates for guests.

“The Lebanese are considered to be one of the most coffee-consuming (Turkish-style) people in the Middle East, paying more than $5.71 for a cup — the third highest price in the region.

Globally, the site reveals that South Korea tops the list of the most expensive countries in the price of a cup of coffee, at about $7.77, a cup of coffee in Tokyo, for example, costs $5.29, and Luxembourg is the world’s largest consumer of coffee.

The lowest price of coffee is in Tehran at $0.46 per cup, the website noted, noting that Luxembourg is the world’s largest consumer of coffee, with an annual consumption of 11.1 kilograms per person.

The site also pointed out that among the least coffee-consuming countries are Nepal and India, the site noted that per capita consumption is less than 0.1 kg on an annual basis.

الدوحة: كشف موقع Ladders الأمريكي أن قطر أغلى دول المنطقة في سعر القهوة، مشيراً إلى أن المقاهي في الدوحة تتقاضى حوالي 6.79 دولاراً تقريباً للكوب الواحد، فيما تقدم إيران أرخص سعر للقهوة في المنطقة (0.46 دولار) تقريباً.

وقال الموقع الأمريكي إن قطر تأتي على رأس 4 دول في الشرق الأوسط هي “الكويت ولبنان والإمارات والسعودية” بين أغلى 10 أماكن في العالم لتناول القهوة، ومع ذلك، فإن الدولتين المجاورتين لتركيا وإيران هما من أرخص دول العالم في سعر القهوة.

ويشير الموقع في تقريره إلى أن القهوة تعتبر رمزا تقليديا للصداقة وكرم الضيافة لدى دول المنطقة، مضيفاً: في دول الخليج العربي، تقدم القهوة العربية الساخنة مع التمور الفاخرة للضيوف.

ويضيف: اللبنانيون يعتبرون من أكثر الشعوب استهلاكاً للقهوة (على الطريقة التركية) في الشرق الأوسط، ويدفعون أكثر من 5.71 دولارا للفنجان – وهو ثالث أعلى سعر في المنطقة.

وعالمياً، يكشف الموقع أن كوريا الجنوبية تتصدر قائمة الدول الأغلى في سعر كوب القهوة، حيث يبلغ 7.77 دولارا تقريباً، كما يكلف كوب القهوة في طوكيو مثلاً 5.29 دولاراً ، كما تعد لوكسمبورغ أكبر مستهلك للبن عالمياً.

وأشار الموقع إلى أن أقل سعر للقهوة موجود في طهران بـ0.46 دولار للكوب، مشيرا إلى أن لوكسمبورغ تعد أكبر مستهلك للبن عالميا، حيث يستهلك الفرد فيها سنويا 11.1 كيلوغراما في العام.

كما لفت الموقع إلى من بين أقل الدول استهلاكا للقهوة تأتي نيبال والهند، مشيراً إلو أن استهلاك الفرد فيهما أقل من 0.1 كيلوغرام على أساس سنوي.
