US President Thanks HH the Amir for His Role in Implementing Detainee Exchange Agreement with Iran

Washington: HE President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for His Highness’s effective role in the process of releasing five American citizens who were detained in Iranian prisons in exchange for the release of several Iranians detained by the United States.
“I give special thanks to the Amir of Qatar and to the Sultan of Oman, both of whom helped facilitate this agreement over many months of difficult and principled American diplomacy,” President Biden said in a statement issued by the White House.
“I am grateful to our partners at home and abroad for their tireless efforts to help us achieve this outcome, including the Governments of Qatar, Oman, Switzerland, and South Korea,” he added.
Earlier today, HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, announced that five citizens of the United States of America who were detained in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran are on their way to Doha International Airport after they have been released in exchange for the release of several detainees of the Islamic Republic of Iran held by the United States of America, as part of an agreement between the two countries mediated by the State of Qatar.

واشنطن: أعرب فخامة الرئيس جو بايدن رئيس الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية الصديقة، عن خالص شكره وتقديره لحضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، لدور سموه الفعال في عملية إطلاق سراح خمسة مواطنين أمريكيين كانوا محتجزين في السجون الإيرانية، مقابل إطلاق سراح عدد من الإيرانيين محتجزين لدى الولايات المتحدة.
وقال الرئيس بايدن في بيان صادر عن البيت الأبيض: “أقدم شكرا خاصا لأمير دولة قطر، وسلطان عمان على مساعدتهما في تسهيل إبرام هذا الاتفاق بين البلدين حول تبادل المحتجزين الذي استغرق عدة أشهر من الدبلوماسية الصعبة”.
وأضاف: “أنا ممتن لشركائنا في الداخل والخارج لجهودهم الدؤوبة لمساعدتنا في تحقيق هذه النتيجة، بما في ذلك حكومات قطر وعمان وسويسرا وكوريا الجنوبية”.
وفي وقت سابق اليوم، أعلن سعادة الدكتور محمد بن عبدالعزيز بن صالح الخليفي وزير الدولة بوزارة الخارجية، أن خمسة من مواطني الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية كانوا محتجزين في سجون الجمهورية الإسلامية الإيرانية في طريقهم إلى مطار الدوحة الدولي، بعد أن تم إطلاق سراحهم مقابل إطلاق سراح عدد من محتجزي الجمهورية الإسلامية الإيرانية لدى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، كجزء من الاتفاق بين البلدين حول تبادل المحتجزين، الذي تم بوساطة دولة قطر.
