Russia: the U.S. has lost any right to make remarks to anyone on human rights

Russian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the United States has lost any right to make remarks to other countries on the subject of human rights, in light of the U.S. authorities’ handling of the current wave of protests.

“As of late May and early June 2020, the United States has lost any right to make any remarks to anyone on the planet on human rights issues,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in an interview with Russia-1.

“It is over! From this moment on, they don’t have that right,” Zakharova said, commenting on the U.S. authorities’ handling of protesters participating in protests against racism and police violence in the United States.

The United States is witnessing a wave of large-scale protests in dozens of U.S. cities that have sometimes turned to violent acts and clashes with security forces, sparked by the killing of African-American citizen George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers as a result of his brutal detention on May 25th.

أكدت الخارجية الروسية أن الولايات المتحدة فقد أي حق للتقدم بملاحظات إلى الدول الأخرى بشأن موضوع حقوق الإنسان، في ضوء تعامل السلطات الأمريكية مع موجة الاحتجاجات الحالية.

وقالت المتحدثة باسم الخارجية الروسية، ماريا زاخاروفا، في حديث لقناة “روسيا-1”: “اعتبارا من أواخر مايو وأوائل يونيو 2020 تفقد الولايات المتحدة أي حق في توجيه أي ملاحظات إلى أحد في الكرة الأرضية بشأن قضايا حقوق الإنسان”.

وأضافت زاخاروفا، تعليقا على تعامل السلطات الأمريكية مع المتظاهرين المشاركين في الاحتجاجات ضد العنصرية وعنف الشرطة في الولايات المتحدة: “انتهى!، بدءا من هذه اللحظة لا يوجد لديهم هذا الحق”.

وتشهد الولايات المتحدة موجة احتجاجات واسعة تعم عشرات المدن الأمريكية تحولت في بعض الأحيان إلى أعمال عنف واشتباكات مع قوات الأمن، وأشعلها مقتل المواطن من أصول أفريقية، جورج فلويد، على يد عناصر شرطة في مدينة مينيابوليس جراء عملية احتجازه بطريقة قاسية يوم 25 مايو.
