Gunman’s sister one of the 9 people killed in Dayton mass shooting

Among the nine people killed in the Dayton, Ohio, mass shooting is the sister of the shooter.
Early Sunday morning, a white man who has been identified by police as 24-year-old Connor Betts opened fire on a crowd of people outside of Ned Peppers Bar.
His sister, Megan, was among the nine victims in the shooting. Another 27 people were injured. The shooter is also dead.
According to police speaking Sunday afternoon in a press conference, the shooter, his sister and an unidentified male companion arrived together in the downtown area, but then separated.
Betts allegedly wore body armor and carried ammunition magazines when he attacked the bar. Police who were in the area were able to stop the shooter in less than one minute.

It was one of two deadly mass shootings within 24 hours; at least 20 others were killed in El Paso, Texas on Saturday afternoon in another attack.

وأوضحت في بيان، أنّ كونور بيتس (24 عاما) “قتل شقيقته (ميغان) في إطلاق النار الذي نفذه في مدينة دايتون، وأسفر عن مقتل 9 أشخاص”، حسبما نقلت وكالة “أسوشيتيد برس”.
وأضافت أنّ “ميغان” (22 عاما) أصغر ضحية في إطلاق النار السبت”.
ولم تكشف الشرطة حتى الساعة (18:32 ت.غ) عن ملابسات تواجد شقيقة بيتس في موقع الحادث، كما لم تعلن عن دوافع المهاجم.
وقُتل بيتس بأيدي عناصر الشرطة بعد أقل من دقيقة من إطلاقه النار من بندقية عيار 223 في شوارع مقاطعة أوريغون في حوالي الساعة الواحدة صباح الأحد.
وقال العمدة نان وايلي، إن مطلق النار كان يرتدي سترة واقية، وكان لديه خزائن ذخيرة إضافية عالية السعة، وإن دافع الهجوم لم يعلن عنه.
يأتي هذا في أحد أكثر الأيام دموية في الولايات المتحدة حيث قتل 29 شخصا، وجرح العشرات في حوادث إطلاق نار متفرقة بولايات تكساس (جنوب) وأوهايو (شمال شرق)، وإلينوي (وسط غرب).
فبعد ساعات من مقتل 20 شخصا، وإصابة 26 آخرين بجروح، في إطلاق نار جماعي بمدينة إل باسو، في تكساس، قتل مسلح 9 آخرين بمدينة “دايتون” في أوهايو، وأصاب 16 آخرين.
وفي اليوم نفسه أصاب مسلح يستقل سيارة 7 أشخاص أثناء تجمعهم في متنزه غربي مدينة شيكاغو في إلينوي، وبعد ساعتين وقع حادث إطلاق نار منفصل بعد على بعد عدة مبان من مكان إطلاق النار، ما أسفر عن إصابة اثنين آخرين بجروح.
