Hamad Port customs thwarts smuggling of prohibited material

Doha: The General Authority of Customs thwarted the attempt to smuggle ”chewing tobacco” during inspecting a container loaded with 600 packets of paper cups, at Hamad Port.

During the inspection, the customs inspector noticed that there was a difference in the classification and packing of the parcels. Following inspecting the parcels, he found 959 bags of chewing tobacco hidden under paper cups in a secret way.

A report of the incident was made and the seized material was sent to the concerned authorities.

Abdul Hadi Al Sahli, Director of the Maritime Customs Department at the Authority, praised the efficiency and experience of the customs officers and their dedication to work to preserve the security and stability of the country through their effective role in thwarting the various smuggling operations.

He pointed out that the authority has recently witnessed a number of seizures of narcotics, which confirms the vigilance of customs officials to prevent the entry of narcotics into the country.

He stressed that these successive seizures confirm the success of authority’s recent steps toward improving performance, as well as the success of its training course adopted recently, which depends on intensifying theoretical and field training for customs inspectors.

تمكّنت الهيئة العامة للجمارك من إحباط عملية تهريب مادة «التمباك»، وذلك خلال وصول شحنة عن طريق ميناء حمد؛ حيث تم تفتيش الحاوية وكانت محمّلة بـ 600 طرد من الأكواب الورقية، ولاحظ مفتش الجمارك أثناء المعاينة وجود اختلاف في تصنيف وتعبئة الطرود، وعلى أثر ذلك الاشتباه تم فرز الطرود والعثور على مادة التمباك مخبأه تحت الأكواب الورقية بطريقة سرية؛ حيث يقدّر عددها بـ 959 كيساً من التمباك، وعليه تم تحرير محضر ضبط بملابسات واقعة التهريب، واتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة وإحالتها إلى الجهات المختصة.

وأثنى السيد عبدالهادي السهلي -مدير إدارة الجمارك البحرية- بجهود المفتشين الجمركيين وتفانيهم في العمل من أجل الحفاظ على أمن واستقرار الوطن، من خلال دورهم الفعّال في إحباط عمليات التهريب المتعددة، موضحاً أن الجمارك شهدت مؤخراً عدداً من الضبطيات للمواد المخدرة، مما يؤكد يقظة رجال الجمارك في منع دخول المواد المخدرة إلى البلاد.

وتأتي هذه الضبطيات المتتالية مؤكدة للخطوات الواثقة للهيئة نحو تطوير الأداء في العمل، كما يؤكد نجاح الهيئة في مسارها التدريبي الذي تبنّته في الفترة الأخيرة، والذي يعتمد على تكثيف التدريب النظري والميداني لمفتشي الجمارك.;
