Qatar Elected Chair of ICAO’s Technical Cooperation Committee

Montreal: The State of Qatar has been elected Chair of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)’s Technical Cooperation Committee.
Representatives of ICAO Council member states elected Qatar’s candidate and Permanent Representative in the Council Essa Abdullah Al Malki as the Chairperson of the ICAO Technical Cooperation Committee, during the ICAO Council Meeting.
HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti commented saying that electing Qatar to this post is a realisation from the international community of Qatar’s effective contributions and leading role in finding solutions to the challenges of international civil aviation since elected member of the ICAO Council last year and reflects the faith of the ICAO Member States in the global position Qatar enjoys within the civil aviation community.
The TCC is a body of the ICAO Council and is responsible for assisting and advising the Council on reviewing ICAO policies and activities related to technical cooperation and assistance, training, and operational plans, as well as assessing the effectiveness of the relevant ICAO departments and implementation of the ICAO Technical Cooperation Program in the regions.
It also assists and advises the Council on reviewing the challenges faced by States in the development of their civil aviation sectors and ICAO mechanisms to assist States in dealing with operational and technical challenges.

مونتريال: فازت دولة قطر برئاسة لجنة التعاون الفني بمنظمة الطيران المدني الدولي /إيكاو/.
وقد انتخب ممثلو الدول الأعضاء في مجلس المنظمة، خلال جلسة عقدت بمدينة /مونتريال/ الكندية، مرشح دولة قطر السيد عيسى بن عبدالله المالكي، مندوبها الدائم لدى منظمة الطيران المدني الدولي /إيكاو/، رئيسا للجنة.
وبهذه المناسبة، قال سعادة السيد جاسم بن سيف السليطي وزير المواصلات، “إن انتخاب دولة قطر لهذا المنصب هو إدراك ملموس من المجتمع الدولي لإسهاماتها الفعالة، ولدورها الرائد في إيجاد الحلول للتحديات التي تواجه الطيران المدني الدولي منذ فوزها بعضوية مجلس المنظمة في العام الماضي”، مشددا على أن “هذا الإنجاز يعكس ثقة أعضاء منظمة /إيكاو/ بالمكانة العالمية التي تحظى بها الدولة في مجتمع الطيران المدني”.
يذكر أن لجنة التعاون الفني تتبع لمجلس منظمة الطيران المدني الدولي /إيكاو/، وهي مسؤولة عن تقديم المعونة والمشورة للمجلس، ومراجعة سياسات ونشاطات التعاون والدعم الفني والتدريب، إلى جانب مسؤوليتها عن الخطط التشغيلية، وتقييم فعالية إدارات المنظمة، وتطبيق برنامج التعاون الفني على المستويات الإقليمية، بالإضافة إلى النظر في التحديات التي تواجه الدول خلال تطوير قطاع الطيران المدني لديها، وتحديد آليات تقديم الدعم المناسب لها للنهوض بقدراتها التشغيلية والفنية.
