Qatar Charity Carries Out Drinking Water Projects in Bangladesh, Pakistan

Doha: Qatar Charity has built several water treatment plants and installed solar-powered pumps in Bangladesh and Pakistan within the framework of its efforts to provide safe drinking water.

These projects contribute to protecting the environment, reducing diseases and epidemics, and reducing the use of electricity.

In a statement on Saturday, Qatar Charity said it had inaugurated 4 water treatment plants in coastal areas in Bangladesh benefiting 8,000 people who suffer from the effects of natural disasters that afflicted their areas there due to the use of salty water, as the plants remove all pollutants from the water to help purify the water and make it safe and fit for human use.

In addition, Charity has installed 7 solar-powered water stations in Peshawar, benefiting more than 1,650 families, or about 16,000 people.

Local officials in the areas targeted by the projects noted the Qatar Charity’s commendable efforts in providing drinking water to the population to protect them from harmful effects of the salty water they drink, pointing out that such projects would contribute to reducing the use of public electricity and protecting the environment from the potential impact of climate change.

الدوحة; أعلنت قطر الخيرية تنفيذ مشاريع لبناء محطات لمعالجة المياه وتركيب مضخات تعمل بالطاقة الشمسية في بنغلاديش وباكستان، في إطار جهودها لتوفير المياه الصالحة للشرب، ما يسهم في حماية البيئة والحد من الأمراض والأوبئة وخفض استخدام الكهرباء في المناطق المستهدفة.

وأوضحت قطر الخيرية، في بيان لها اليوم، أنها دشنت 4 محطات لمعالجة المياه في عدد من المناطق الساحلية في بنغلاديش، يستفيد منها نحو 8 آلاف شخص يعانون من آثار الكوارث الطبيعية التي أصابت مناطقهم، بسبب تلوث المياه وملوحتها، حيث تعمل المحطات الجديدة على إزالة جميع المواد الملوثة في المياه وجعلها آمنة وصالحة للاستخدام البشري.

كما قامت قطر الخيرية بتركيب 7 محطات مياه تعمل بالطاقة الشمسية في مدينة /بيشاور/ الباكستانية، يستفيد منها أكثر من 1650 أسرة (نحو 16 ألف شخص)، حيث تم تركيب محطتين في بيشاور و5 محطات في منطقة /ناوشيرا/، وذلك لتوفير مياه آمنة ونظيفة.

ونوه مسؤولون محليون في المناطق التي استهدفتها المشاريع بجهود قطر الخيرية المقدرة في توفير المياه الصالحة للشرب للسكان لحمايتهم من أضرار المياه المالحة التي يشربونها، مشيرين إلى أن تلك المشاريع تسهم كذلك في خفض استخدام الكهرباء وحماية البيئة من التأثير المحتمل لتغير المناخ.
