Ministry of Labor to Launch International Conference on Occupational Heat Stress

Doha: The activities of the International Conference on Occupational Heat Stress under the theme “Implementation, Practices and Sharing of Experience” will kick off tomorrow, under the auspices of HE Minister of Labor Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri.

The Ministry of Labor, in collaboration with the International Labor Organization, is hosting the conference that will focus on the effects of heat stress in the workplace. The event will explore current and future measures, challenges, and opportunities to adopt an advanced approach in mitigating the impact of heat stress on the work environment. It will also provide a valuable platform for participants, specialists, and those interested in exchanging knowledge and experiences. The conference will highlight successful strategies for reducing occupational heat stress and offer discussions on how to enhance workers’ protection, as well as methods to improve occupational safety and health in the workplace.

The conference, which will be held on May 9-10, will also address topics related to the Qatari experience, the regulatory mechanisms it has implemented to reduce heat stress and legislation regulating working hours during the summer period, in addition to reviewing some experiences in the Arab region regarding the reduction and prevention of heat stress.

A group of international and regional experts specializing in heat stress prevention strategies from the International Labor Organization and academics from major universities in the United States of America, the European Union, Singapore, Mexico, Greece and South Africa will participate in the conference.

During the conference, the International Labor Organization will review the findings of the organization’s global report on occupational heat stress and international responses to mitigate heat stress, in addition to the European Commission’s review of the impact of heat stress on Labor productivity in European Union countries.

الدوحة: أعلنت وزارة العمل عن إطلاق فعاليات المؤتمر الدولي بشأن الإجهاد الحراري المهني، بعنوان /ممارسات التطبيق وتبادل الخبرات/ االيوم الثلاثاء، تحت رعاية سعادة الدكتور علي بن صميخ المري وزير العمل.

وأوضحت الوزارة، في بيان، أن المؤتمر الذي ينظم بالتنسيق مع منظمة العمل الدولية، سيناقش تأثير الإجهاد الحراري على بيئة العمل، والتدابير الحالية والمستقبلية والتحديات، وفرص تبني نهج متطور للتخفيف من تأثير الإجهاد الحراري على بيئة العمل، وفقا للتوجهات العالمية والإقليمية، حيث يشكل المؤتمر منصة حوارية أمام المشاركين والمهتمين والمختصين، لتبادل المعارف والخبرات والتجارب الناجحة في الحد من تأثير الإجهاد الحراري، فضلا عن بحث سبل تعزيز حماية العمال، وآليات تعزيز السلامة والصحة المهنيتين في بيئة العمل.

وسيتناول المؤتمر الذي يعقد يومي 9 و10 مايو الجاري، موضوعات متعلقة بالتجربة القطرية والآليات التنظيمية التي نفذتها للحد من الإجهاد الحراري، والتشريعات التي تنظم ساعات العمل خلال فترة الصيف، بالإضافة إلى استعراض بعض التجارب في المنطقة العربية بشأن الحد من الإجهاد الحراري والوقاية منه.

ويشارك في المؤتمر، وفق البيان، نخبة من الخبراء الدوليين والإقليميين المتخصصين باستراتيجيات الوقاية من الإجهاد الحراري المهني من منظمة العمل الدولية، وأكاديميون من كبرى الجامعات الأمريكية والأوروبية، وسنغافورة، والمكسيك، واليونان، وجنوب إفريقيا.

وتستعرض منظمة العمل الدولية، خلال المؤتمر، نتائج التقرير العالمي للمنظمة حول الإجهاد الحراري المهني والاستجابات الدولية للتخفيف من حدة الإجهاد الحراري، بالإضافة إلى استعراض المفوضية الأوروبية تأثير الإجهاد الحراري في إنتاجية العمل في دول الاتحاد الأوروبي.
