Doha: The State of Qatar hosts a regional workshop on external radiation dosimetry, with special focus on monitoring the exposure of the limbs and eye lenses to radiation.
Organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health and Hamad Medical Corporation, during the period from May 7-11, 2023, the workshop primarily aims to foster interactive debates on the methods of establishing, optimizing and coordinating the external monitoring capabilities of doses to hands, legs and eye lenses, in conformity with IAEA’s safety requirements and standards to ensure the annual dose limits for the eye lens are not exceeded.
The operators who could potentially be exposed to this risk primarily include medial specialists who operate Image-guided equipment in cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology, along with medical specialists who discharge some functions in nuclear medicine, as well as workers in emergency response and Industrial radiography.
International experts from Qatar, Greece, Kuwait and Lebanon will present the workshop, with the participation of 28 international delegates.

الدوحة: تستضيف دولة قطر ورشة عمل إقليمية حول قياس الجرعات الإشعاعية الخارجية، مع التركيز بشكل خاص على مراقبة تعرض الأطراف وعدسات العين للإشعاع، والتي تنظمها الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية بالتعاون مع وزارة الصحة العامة ومؤسسة حمد الطبية، وذلك خلال الفترة من 7 إلى 11 مايو الجاري.
وتهدف الورشة بشكل رئيسي إلى تعزيز المناقشات التفاعلية حول كيفية إنشاء وتحسين وتنسيق قدرات المراقبة الخارجية لجرعات الأطراف وعدسة العين، بما يتوافق مع متطلبات ومعايير السلامة للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية؛ وذلك لضمان عدم تجاوز حدود الجرعات السنوية لعدسة العين.
ويشمل العاملون المحتمل تعرضهم للخطر بشكل رئيسي الأخصائيين الطبيين الذين يقومون بتشغيل المعدات الموجهة بالصور في القسطرة القلبية والأشعة التداخلية، والأخصائيين الطبيين الذين يؤدون بعض المهام في الطب النووي، بالإضافة إلى العاملين في الاستجابة للطوارئ، والعاملين في التصوير الإشعاعي الصناعي.
يقدم الورشة خبراء دوليون من قطر واليونان والكويت ولبنان، ويشارك فيها 28 مندوبا دوليا.
