QRCS Distribute Food Parcels in 8 Yemeni Governorates

Doha: In partnership with Yemen Red Crescent Society (YRCS), Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) initiated a project to provide food parcels for poor families in eight governorates of Yemen.

At a cost of $609,377 (QR 2,511,000), the project is funded by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Zakat Fund.

In total, 7,560 food parcels will be distributed to 52,920 beneficiaries in Amanat Al-Asimah, Aden, Dhale, Lahij, Taiz, Al-Hudaydah, Marib, and Hajjah.

So far, 4,000 food parcels have been distributed in Hajjah, Lahij, Marib, and Dhale, with a special focus on families with jobless displaced people, female breadwinners, widows, orphans, disabilities, and older persons.

In a statement, Advisor to Lahij Governor for Organizations Affairs, Omar Al Samati said, “We started to distribute 1,000 food parcels to the internally displaced people (IDPs) and host community in Tuban District, Lahij. This support is very important, especially with the onset of winter, which brings more needs. I would like to thank Qatars Zakat Fund for this humanitarian donation, and I hope that our brothers at QRCS would intensify their interventions these days, to meet the enormous needs in the areas of food, health, education, water, and livelihoods”.

Director-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (SCMCHA) in Hajjah, Allan Ali Fadayel, said, “I would like to thank QRCS, who are there for those in need. They responded to SCMCHAs appeal in the face of disasters in the governorate.”

الدوحة: أطلق الهلال الأحمر القطري، بالشراكة مع نظيره اليمني، مشروع توفير السلال الغذائية للأسر المحتاجة في 8 محافظات يمنية، بتكلفة قدرها 609,377 دولارا أمريكيا (أي ما يعادل 2,511,000 ريال قطري)، ممولة من صندوق الزكاة التابع لوزارة الأوقاف والشؤون الإسلامية.

وتستهدف هذه المساعدات الغذائية 52,920 مستفيدا في محافظات أمانة العاصمة، وعدن، والضالع، ولحج، وتعز، والحديدة، ومأرب، وحجة، علما أنه تم حتى الآن توزيع 4,000 سلة غذائية في بعض هذه المحافظات، مع التركيز على النازحين الذين فقدوا مصدر رزقهم، والأسر التي تعولها النساء أو الأرامل أو الأيتام، وتلك التي يعاني أحد أفرادها من الإعاقة، أو معدومة الدخل وبها كبار سن.

وأوضح السيد عمر الصماتي، مستشار محافظ لحج لشؤون المنظمات، في تعليق له، أنه تم توزيع 1,000 سلة غذائية لصالح النازحين والمجتمع المضيف في مديرية تبن بالمحافظة، معربا عن شكره لصندوق الزكاة على هذه المنحة الإنسانية، وخصوصا مع دخول فصل الشتاء الذي تتزايد فيه الاحتياجات.

وأكد الصماتي على الحاجة الماسة لمثل هذه التدخلات في مجالات الغذاء والصحة والتعليم والمياه وسبل كسب العيش.
